    Rotel Tech Support is awesome

Okay, I have had a nagging hiss problem from my 1098 as well as a minor loss of video problem on my 1060 dvd player. Unfortunately, they were not able to locate the source of the problem in either unit. I sent both units in separately, because my dealer as well as Rotel thought it was the 1098. The 1098 checked out fine, so I then had to send in the DVD player...same thing came back with a clean bill of health. They determined maybe there was something going on between the two pieces. Instead of having me send both units back and be without them over the holidays, they sent me latest versions of every board for the 1098 to troubleshoot the problem. :T
I'll be taking lots of photos throughout the process and will post them.

Lots of people post their problems on this site, myself included and it is nice to know that Rotel/my dealer are truly trying to make this right for me.

Well the hiss has been reduced a bit by replacing existing board with newer one. I'll post photos of the two different boards. I noticed my old board has chip marked 3.1 vs. 3.3 on new one. Also there appears to be a block of metal that is not old board....it looks like a heat sink or something. I'll post photos later. Merry Christmas!

PS—still have the video issue. Just got the Star Wars trilogy for Xmas. It has to be the DVD player, because the viedo loss problem now occurs when plugging directly into my TV. Also the signal is also repeated on the 1098 screen which tells me it isn't the TV.

Strange RSP 1098 problem - remote related?
          by JudgeBaxter
          Hi guys,

Just a quick ask before I box it all up and ship it back, to see if this has happened to anyone else before.

My RSP-1098 has been working fine out of the box. It's only a few months old (maybe 4 at most), so is onlt just about run in....

          I only sit...
