I've been comparing the DD 5.1 and PCM modes on the MC-1 and am finding myself preferring the PCM Music Logic mode for many of my DVD 5.1 concerts. With the rear channel rolloff set to max you get much of the same effect as a discrete mix, but with full fidelity.

I think alot of difference between the 2 comes from your setup..I prefer the 5.1 to the PCM..but I am using an ultra-low Xover (40 hz) plus using full range fronts and rears. My last setup, with a DC-1, I was using different fronts x'd-over at 80 hz, rears crossed at 80, and PS1200 sub x'ed at 120...I couldn't get music logic to sound worth a hoot.

I use the DC-1 (vers.4) with full range (40Hz and below) tower spks in a 7.1 set-up. I prefer DD/DTS 7.1 music DVD's with the Bass Enhance feature engaged. I have my Velodyne FSR-18 at 40Hz. I turn the rear sub off. One word: AWESOME!!
7.1 music/movies is my bag. 2/ch, every now and then, late night listening.
With PCM comes Music Surround with the type of music I like, singing groups. PANORMA get things rockin` with bands, jazz, and other up-tempo music.

by nicholtlJust wondering what DSP mode you guys use when you listen to music? Stereo? Natural (i like this one)? Party? Pro Logic II Music? Also, I found that the sound seemed a little too neutral for my taste without treble, so I upped that somewhat. How did you guys customize your sound?

by Chris DFrom a news release I just saw of the first receiver, (Onkyo) with the new Dolby Pro Logic IIz technology that extracts to 9.1 channels. I chased down this technology report on the Dolby website. Very interesting.
I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of this before! My thoughts in another post...-
