Ref 30 problems with DD with HDTivo

    Hello,

New to this forum. I was wondering if anyone out there having problems with their Ref 30 and the HiDef Tivo HD10-250 with DD 5.1? It seems when I watch the my HD stuff the sound is supposded to come out DD 5.1 but I get no sound. The only way I can get this to work is to change the input to another and back to the original Input. It seems that the Ref 30 is not picking out the input correctly. I have no problems with my Bravo D2 , but I do get this problem with my Tivo and Xbox.

I called B&K and they told me I need to upgrade the firmware to 2.11 and I have 2.05. I had to take it back to my dealer to do this and I was told they have to ship it out.

Isn't there a way for me to do it by myself? I know I connected to the Ref30 via a cable into my laptop. So there must be a way for me to do it myself. I just need the upgrade firmware file.

    Thanks

    Hello,
unfortunately no. The ref30 cannot be reprogrammed via software. the software is actually a hardware install. I know that sounds crazy but you change out the physical firmware card.If you don't know the inside of the ref30 well, you could damage it.

Send it out and get it fixed. I had the same exact problems with version 2.05.Thats a really old firmware version and 2.11 will fix you trouble..

    Good luck,

    Dan

      Dan,

Thanks for the reply back. I was hoping I didn't have to send it back.
My problem is once I send it back I am out of my home theater for about 2 weeks. Which I can not live without.

My other option which I am leaning towards and I hate to do is to trade or sell my Ref 30 and put up the rest to upgrade to the Ref 50 S2.

      Thanks for the help again.

        New B&K Ref30 firmware?
        by ojala
My B&K Reference is running 2.05 software (BKC-DIP 1.02.01). Is there a new firmware available somewhere? Or is it included with the B&K Suite software? (I still need to assemble the RS232-cable)

When I bought the unit it was most probably the only B&K Ref30 in Europe. B&K...

THX processing on the REF30 question

Here is a quote from THX specifications:

"The Bass Crossover removes low frequency information from the signals sent to the front speakers and re-routes it to a dedicated subwoofer."

My question is this. If I have the B&K Reference 30 set to "no subwoofer"...

        B&K Ref 30 and subs
        by Helier
        Hello All!
Because of DVD-A (Toshiba SD9200), I have my subs running from the mains out and no sub selected in the menus of both the Ref30 and the Toshiba.
I suppose my question is, Am I missing anything with this set up?.
The subs are M&K MX100(2), so each one is hooked up...

        B&K Ref 50 S1 firmware update
        by John Holmes
I recently had my processor's firmware updated from 1.03 to 2.03. It was also cleaned, with all I/O adjusted.

There was no operational reason why I sent it in. Just wanted it to be up-to-date  :B Anyway, I must admit, I'm in love and pissed at the same time. This thing has never...

Be very very careful when doing firmware updates on a C1/C2
        by Scarp
As the subject says ... be very careful when doing firmware upgrades or actually do not do this yourself.

        Here is my little story:
For some investigation for the Dolby Digital EX problems, I had contact with someone from Parasound. However since I had an older firmware version...
