Anyone get to see the JC2 two channel preamp at the Alexis Park? Likes to be a killer piece, but no word if it will become a reality.

I figured it would be good to add recent discussion on the JC-2 back into the thread about the JC-2 itself. Here are my reposts from elsewhere:
- The JC-2 is REAL, I repeat, REAL. It's going to happen! :dancenana: The info I got is that the first prototype had incredible performance, and reviewers found it comparable to the legendary CTC Blowtorch (Worth well over $15,000!!!!) when played on massive Soundlab electrostats. Again, I won't make promises for Parasound, but we should be seeing this come out before the end of 2006. I can't wait for this one... I wasn't thinking too much of it originally, wondering if it would really happen or not, but now my radar's going to be tracking this one.
I'm going to be interested to hear the details of the JC-2 creation when they come out.
In any case, if what I'm hearing and reading in research is correct, it looks like Parasound is about to take the company to a whole new level of performance.

I found a picture from CES 2005 that shows what we're dealing with here. This is the massive Soundlab M-1 electrostat speakers ($18,000 and I don't know if that's for one or the pair) powered by two JC-1 amplifiers ($6,000) with the CTC blowtorch ($15,000) fed from a Entec Number Cruncher source ($5,000)
You're playing with the big boys now... how do I get this room, other than spend $43,000?? 8O

Here's the CTC blowtorch itself. Definitely not a Halo piece of equipment, but looks are deceiving, because this thing is incredible. Each one is hand-built by John Curl, Carl Thompson, and Bob Crump, going from one master builder to the next, taking 3 months. The word is that owners (of which there are very few) say it has no equal.

The Soundlab M-1 retails for $16,800/pair. However, I can see that the setup in the picture also has a pair of SALLIEs (backwave attenuators), so your $18k retail figure probably includes those...Originally posted by Chris DThis is the massive Soundlab M-1 electrostat speakers ($18,000 and I don't know if that's for one or the pair)
That should be $7,000 as of 6/1/2005Originally posted by Chris Dpowered by two JC-1 amplifiers ($6,000)

No numbers yet, but rumoredly just awesome. Richard Schram demo'd the JC2 for an audiophile club in Chicago, and got rave reviews. They're the ones that compared it to the Blowtorch, saying that the Blowtorch was the winner, but not by much, and certainly not for the price.

The JC2 is on display at CES 2007. If anyone is curious to know anything more about it or you want to see some pictures speak up and I'll see what I can do.
I will quickly say that the quality construction that went into this product is substantial and unlike anything Halo before it, with the exception of the JC1's of course."Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."- Bottom

Thanks for the pics RebelMan! Looks like a great unit. The $4000 list price kind of broke my heart. I like the rear panel setup. It's much like the P3, except that it has two dedicated source line in's with switchable XLR/RCA. The S/N specs are very nice. I'll have empty my penney jar to pull this one off. I sure would like to see some pics of the inside.Jay- Bottom

You have my gratitude. This model looks a little more spiffy (as expected) than the prototype I saw last spring. The price is right where I anticipated, too. Thanks again for taking the time to get pictures (the first I've seen online in 2007) and pricing.- Bottom

I have my name down on one. According to our Rep, this should be available sometime in March as well as the new P7. Looking to upgrade my well loved PLD-2000. This should be a classic.

by JonMarshOK, what I mean by "personal report" is that I'm not going there to try to cover all the things that are happening (impossible!) nor most of the things that might be of interest to audio/video holics at HTGuide (don't have that much spare time). What I will be doing is checking out a few things...-

by Mike_SchmidtPeter i have a question I turned my gain all the way to the left where before it was all the way clock wise on my JC2. My A21 was wide open to. So needless to say when listening to CD at 0900 on the JC2 volume knob it would scream but I turned my gain on my JC2 all the way off counter clock wise and...-

There is a chance I may be able to get a used pair of JC1's and the seller also has a JC2 that he is looking at selling...we may be able to strike a deal,
My intention was that if I can get the JC1's I would purchase a new P5, but now I am thinking the JC2 might...-

by RJKuzmaStereophile Magazine has a very positive review of the JC2 preamp in their March 2008 edition. John Akinson wrote the review, with much more commentary on the sound quality than Sam Tellig's earlier mini-review. Overall the JC2 gets an "Awsome!" :T-
