So in May I took the plunge into Parasound land. I went from an Onkyo receiver TX-DS797 (which I'm now using as a pre/pro) to the A-51. After months of researching and lots of forum surfing, I couldn't resist all the accolades and purchased the A-51 unauditioned. No regrets there, I was amazed by the huge difference in sound, presence, authority, etc. Sure, other amps may have fit the bill for less money but I won't be upgrading this thing until its fried. Here's my question. While I've always loved my speakers - got a pair of KLH sx-9's in 1997 for $300 as my mains - I went and spent 10 times that on an amp. And I've got JBL CL505 center and N26 rears. Am I crazy??
A-51 with KLH and JBL speakers?

Thanks mitch57.
I bought the JBL's 3 years ago. Inexpensive/got good reviews and they sound great to me. I didn't really consider many options. I guess I'm just commenting on the glaring discrepancy in the quality of the Amp I'm using vs. the speakers its driving. -or at least what many people would consider a significant difference in quality. In any event, I've been reading for months but finally Greetings Halo/parasound forum!- Bottom

Perhaps this post belongs somewhere else. Forgive me if it does. The upgrade bug sure as heck hit for the amp and universal player but not for the speakers. Perhaps I am crazy, Kingdaddy, but tell me why you think so. I believe that KLH did in the past put out a great bang for the buck speaker (especially in their top models) and may still do. The model I got was top of the line for KLH - Performance series -solid, heavy duty cabinets, 15inch polymer woofer w/ 50 ounce magnets, 5 1/4" wide-dispersion midrange, and 1 inch ferrofluid dome tweeter. 94 db sensitivity - moves air down to 25hz - well above their Best Buy line. They've always sounded great (clear, powerful, kick ass bass, and beautiful singing tone) but maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. The A51 sends these things into orbit. just wondering if I'm being stubborn and/or naive.- Bottom

Just seems a little (putting the cart before the horse) lopsided to have a 2K amp on a pair of $300 speakers. BTW, if you really want to see how well they are made, pop a driver out and look at the cabinet construction details and driver/crossover quality, don’t take the marketing blurbs to seriously. IMO KLH does not do bang for the buck well, they just do affordable, and no speaker under 1k could be made with very good components, just not possible from my experience. Since the KLH probably has almost no real crossover it should be very easy to drive and no real benefit in having a brut force amp like the Halo. Again, just my opinion and I happen to believe that the speaker/room is by far the most important component in the chain, next to the source recording quality that is.
Congrats on the purchase of a truly great amp, it should last a life time. :T- Bottom

I just received my new set-up cosisting of Parasound C2 and A51 and have been most pleased with the sound quality.
I previously owned a Pioneer 49tx and was satisfied until the upgrade bug hit me so I added an external 5 channel power amplifier (Sherbourne 5210)...-

by john4618I'm getting a Parasound C2 and want to know which amp to use, the A51 at 250 watts RMS x 5 –or- the A52 at 125 watts RMS x 5 –or- should I just use my 1205A that I already have ???
I can't demo these so I have some questions:
