    C1 Dies

After months of reading your informative posts I find myself in need of some advice.

After shipping my Halo C1 (in it's original carton) from California to the east coast, I plugged in the C1 and it immediately started turning off and on with a noise that sounded like a relay switching. I e-mailed Parasound service and got no response (not too happy about that) and so now I'll call them, but does anyone have any ideas of what happened? Something come loose in the shipping? An electrical problem in my home? Is it something I can reset?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If it matters the system consists of a Denon 5900, Parasound Halo A51, Parasound 806, NHT VT-2 system (7 channel), Sony Front projector, Stewart screen, Faroudja LD100 line doubler and for good measure a Pioneer LD704 Laserdisc player!

    Thanks,

    Craig

Try flipping the power switch on the back to re-boot. Unplug all inputs and outputs, only power and see what happens.

It might be worth checking all the connections inside, but I would call Parasound 1st to give you guidance as to not void the warranty, etc.

The one time I had to call Parasound, they were incredibly helpful (and I wasn't even an owner yet). They may just respond better to phone inquiries than email ones.

          Craig,
This sound VERY similar to a problem that I had with my C1.

I had to send the unit to Parasound and they replaced a "defective" power harness. If you check the archives, you may find others experienced a similar issue/solution. The shipping may have indeed put the "condition" over the edge... According to the previous owner, whom I trust implicitly, it never experienced any issues until he shipped it to me (West coast to East Coast btw - 8O )
I called Parasound directly (email is not the way to go it seems), got an RA# and had them repair it. It was all covered under warranty.
I did open the unit to check for obvious issues before shipping (don't tell Parasound;-) - did the wiggle test, etc - and could not find anything.

If you bring it to the dealer, they'll pay for the shipping but you'll have to wait longer. I sent it in myself and they turned it around in 48 hours.

          BTW, we have similar electronics - C1, A51, DVD5900

I just got back from fixing the same exact issue on a C1. It was simply a loose connector. Worth popping the cover for and taking a look if you are comfortable doing so.
