    Subwoofer

    I was looking at new subwoofers to go with my parasound stuff and seen that my current sub has been upgraded? from a 400 watt high current amp to a class D amp that has 1200 watts.
    Can someone explain to me is that a big change/means going to a class D amp.

      A class D amp is a DIGITAL amplifier. It generates sound by pulse-width modulation (very rapidly changing between no power and full power). This is totally different from how a standard class A/B amp works...

          We're going to hear more and more about digital amps as time goes on. I, like many others, are not fully convinced yet about them. This is the first I've heard of a digital amp being used in a subwoofer, but hey, I suppose it was going to happen sooner or later.

              so changing from a high current amp to a digital amp would support a price increase?see the review in secrets of home theater of the new paradigm servo 15 sub. is that truly a power increase or the same thing just with a new name?

                      New place that I just moved to is limited in space. I can't not keep a 5.1 setup, so I decided to change to a 2.1 setup.
                      Sold the Marantz AV7005, the Emotiva amp, and the surrounds. Still looking to sell the center HTM2 since I can't use that either.
                      I picked up a Denon PMA-390SE amp...

                      I have been running sweeps using TruRta for the last few hours and trying to get my mains (LCR) flat. After some tweaking at the XO point (100hz) I have really got it flat with the exception of a null between 44hz and 56hz , about -6db.When I smooth out the response to 1/3rd oct it is ruler flat....
