Bowers & Wilkins Bows High-End In-Wall
Superb Performance For Music, AV Systems From Slim
Nautilus-Derived Design
Britain’s B&W Loudspeakers, known worldwide for its benchmark speakers for high-end audio and home-theater systems, has introduced a refined new built-in model. The CWM LCR8 utilizes five drive units and employs key technologies from B&W’s acclaimed Nautilus range of free-standing speakers to achieve impressive accuracy, range, and dynamic performance.
The slim CWM LCR8 is engineered for use either vertically or horizontally, capable of providing the full, left-center-right “front stage” of a high-performance multichannel system, or a highly capable stereo array. The new B&W’s three specially developed drivers include pairs both of 5-inch woven-Kevlar® bass/midranges and of 5-inch aluminum-cone bass drivers, as well as a 1-inch aluminum-dome tweeter. This Nautilus-dervied design uses tapered-tube loading for dramatically reduced internal reflections, yielding unequalled freedom from coloration; the Kevlar-cone mid/bass driver, also a Nautilus descendant, features singularly low-distortion, long-throw abilities for remarkable tonal clarity and dynamic impact.
Despite its compact width and modest mounting depth, the CWM LCR8 delivers balanced, full-range sound with useful output down to 35 Hz. This unusual extension qualifies the new B&W design both as an exceptional musical full-range speaker, and as a powerful choice in subwoofer-enhanced layouts, ensuring seamless, continuous response between sub and satellite speakers. -over-
In either case, the CWM LCR8’s substantial power-handling capability and unexcelled dynamic potential ensure that listeners will hear the all the definition and visceral impact that have long been synonymous with the B&W name.
The B&W CWM LCR8 measures 28 inches by just x 8.6 inches, and requires just 3.5 inches of mounting depth. Its matte-white frame and grille are usable as-is and are also ideal for pre-painting or custom finishing.
The CWM LCR8 will be available November 2004, at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $1,000 each.
Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) is Britain’s leading exporter of loudspeakers, and is also the number-one imported brand in North America. Since 1966, B&W’s "Quest for Perfection" has resulted in a succession of technical loudspeaker innovations that have satisfied the world’s most demanding listeners. B&W’s rave reviews and universal acceptance as the monitor for classical music recordings have helped B&W become the dominant premium loudspeaker company throughout the world.
