    Crossover for 705

I got the front B&W’s 705 loudspeakers :T connected to my Rotel RSX-1056, in the receiver set up menu there is a program for speakers crossover which has a setup default of 100Hz.
What should be the crossover setup for the 705 loudspeakers (I got a 12" Sub woofer )?

    80Hz will do the trick

    Zohar,

A good guide is to set the crossover at a point a little above the speakers own natural frequency drop off so you don't get a double cut in volume happening causing a dip in response. For the B&W 705s this drop off starts at about 60Hz so an 80 Hz crossover would be perfect. Luckily this is also the recomended THX crossover point for the LFe channel etc that most movies are mastered to - so you get a double bonus....

Enjoy your speakers and don't forget to use a Sound Pressure Level meter if you can get hold of one to calibrate the levels for the speaker and the sub.

      RSX-1056 connection & crossover setup

      1. I decided to upgraded my old home theater system by replacing my 939 Onkyo’s Receiver with the newest Rotel’s RSX-1056 :T , and also decided to keep the Laser-disk (DX-V370) for the concerts collection which I have.
The problem that I crossed that I don’t know were and how to connect...

DISCLAIMER: I make some pretty bold statements in the proceeding essay. If you think you might be offended stop here. It was not my intention to offend anyone but I have some very strong feelings about this subject as it pertains to B&W loudspeakers.

      Sweet sounding B&W 705......... Finally
      by Briz vegas
The 705 did not get much love on this forum. The story was one about the treble, and it wasn't liked much for that reason. I struggled with them and ended up with 804s, then finally Vivid B1s, all of which I still own.

So, what is the new role for my frustrating 705s that makes them...

Driver bandwidth and determining crossover frequency: Questions

According to Dickason, the general rule of thumb (of course there are exceptions) for the lower crossover limit for midrange and tweeters is to be at least 2x the FS of the driver, 3-4x is even better.

He also suggests that the upper level crossover for woofers and midranges should be...
