    CMW 7.3 or Signature 8NT???

I'm working on a dedicated home theatre and i would use inwall speakers.

I was thinking of using 5x CMW 7.3 and 2x CMW 7.4 but i saw that i can buy Signature 8NT inwall speakers for the same price.

    Anybody knows how they compare?

CMW 7.3 is a more recent speaker but the Signature has Nautilus tech, so...

Having installed and heard both, I can tell you that you will be happy with either option. If it is a new construction, I would be inclined to use the 8NT with the back boxes. They can be retrofitted with a lot of drywall cutting, re-framing, and repair, etc. I do not know if you factored the cost of the backboxes into your comparison. The 7.3 uses an integral "reservoir" instead of a full back box. Easy to retrofit as well if that is a factor. The 8NT back box is built like a rock and is really necessary for them to sound their best. If you do not have the ability or desire to install the back boxes for the 8NT, I would probably do the 7.3.

The 8NT uses an Aluminum tweeter, 5" mid, and 7" woofers....the 7.3 uses a soft dome tweeter (still using Nautilus tube tech.), 4" mid, and 6" woofers. The 8NT is an 8 ohm speaker, whereas the 7.3 is 4 ohms. Depending on what you choose for amplification, this could possibly be something to factor into your decision.

Either way, it sounds like you are working on something pretty fantastic.

      Thanks for the answer.

Well I'm trying to work on something fantastic but then it also has to sound fantastic

These speakers are hard to find in a demo room so i need people with experience just like you to give advice....

It's true that i didn't count the price of the backboxes for the sig's but the most important for me is the sound quality.

To power them i have the Rotel RMB 1575/RB1572(250W/ch) that should be ok i think.

To be honest with you i wanted to put the 805Di behind the AT screen but people say it's not really a good idea to do that so I wanted to find a real good sounding inwall speaker.......

Well if you are doing an AT screen and have the room for 805Di, why not look at the CT700 series? That is what they were designed for.

The Rotel should be great with the B&W speakers.

The CT 7.3 are quite big speakers and I have to try to put them all behind the AT screen.

Or I have to put them on the side but then the CMW 7.3 is the better option I think.

I wanted to put the 805Di behind the screen for the sound quality but then I have no matching surrounds. Till now there are no B&W inwalls with diamond tweeters so.....

          It is really difficult....

              Bipole/Dipole Surrounds -- 12v triggers
              by Hammie
My next upgrade will be a pair of B&W CMW DS8 inwall surrounds. They can be changed from bipole to dipole via a 12v trigger. My question is how easy is this to do? Will the trigger in my Denon 3808 work? Will I need another external trigger?

Secondly, if I run 12/4 speaker wire to...

              Mixed 802D / 8NT across front 3
              by Audio_ElF
              A quick question ...

Has anyone tried a pair of 802D with an 8NT (wall mounted) as a center?

              How does it sound?

My alternative is using phantom mode.

Obviously will demo but opinions help to begin ...

              inwall/onwall surround
              by indygreg
i have searched and found that several people have posted questions about modifying one of the existing projects to work as in inwall. the issue seems to be the depth limitation and i saw mentioned that if you had a 2x6 it would be much better. common practice for building a theater today is to use...

              Good & affordable InWall/ceiling speakers
              by mattburk
I need some inwall and inceiling speakers. A guy at a local shop recommended some MTX 810cms, which I have never heard of before, but he says they are great.
I love the B&W's, but they are pretty expensive, The top of the line B&W's go for $1700 each and then the next step down go for...
