    CDM SNT rears.......too much?

    Hi Folks,

I spotted a matching pair of CDM SNTs online. I replaced my DS6 with the identical speakers back in May. I can rearrange my receiver to run the rear surrounds, but I'm concerned that it might be overkill.

I've attached some rudimentary camera phone pics of the potential placement. The couch back (read my head) is about 3 feet from the back wall. Are the 2 extra channels worth doing, from a acoustic standpoint?

    Thanks,
    Ken

    kmak,

I personally like discreet channels. Since there in not really any 7.1 discreet material available, I'm happy with my current 5.1.

However, if you have a decent sized room (my HT room is fairly small at 11X16) or have open areas to your listening area, then 7.1 is a good idea.
Then good ocverage is provided. The fact that you can get two identical speakers as your existing rears is a really good find.

    Hope this helps.

As tempting as it is, I guess rears might be too much. if I had 2 more feet back there, it would make more sense. Plus my rack is already too full to accomodate another 2 channel amp. I still need a 5 channel........ My long term goal is to replace the fronts with N804 and their matching center, or if I wait long enough 804S/HTM3S, in natural cherry of course 8)

Here are my 11 year-old speakers (CDM 7SE, CDM CSE) with my Elite Kuro 141, I LOVE MY SET!!!! :T

        SNT versus 1NT for surrounds
        by Sounder
I'm looking for new surrounds. Currently, I have 9NTs for front, CNT center, and CDM 1SE for surrounds. I want to move the SEs to another room, and put matching surrounds. I'm interested in either the CDM 1NTs or CDM SNTs. As far as overall sound quality, what thoughts do you have on the fit for...

        SCM's vs. CDM SNT's
        by georgev
Okay time for my next upgrade.
        I run a 7.1 system. Front three are N802,s and HTM 1.
        Four rear are CDM SNT's.
I listen to 90% two channel stereo and then Movies. Minimal MC music.
Is it a worthwhile investment to change to the SCM's? Bearing in mind the limited information...

I came across a set of these speakers and wanted to know if they are any good or should I say... what are some opinions of them?

How would they compare to say Swan Diva's 5.1 speakers?

What would be a good price to offer for the set?

        Also I take it the...

Anyone mixing CDM NT series with 700 series?
        by Blindamood
I'm currently running a 5.1 setup with the following: CDM 9NTs in front, CDM CNT center, and CDM 1NTs in the rear. I'm considering moving the 9NTs to another room (where I have a 2-channel system), and looking for ideas to replace them in the 5.1 setup.

        Obviouusly, the CDM NT series...

        CDM 1SE - To Bi-wire or Not?
        by emdeevee
I have a set of CDM SE speakers which I'm going to power with a B&K AVR507. The CDM 7SEs and the CDM CSE will be bi-wired with Audioquest Type 6 wire, but due to real world issues, I cannot run 35 feet (under carpet) of Type 6 wire to my rear CDM 1SEs -- at least not if I want to stay married....
