preamp and amp for 802d and HTM2

I am interested in thoughts on the best preamp and amps for 802d's and htm2.

I am considering mx120 for preamp and mc402 for an amp for 802ds...keeping my rotel 1095 for the htm2 and the rears. Sounds like mx120 is discontinued.

Thoughts on these models of mcintoshes and thoughts on classe? Versus any other models and brands..

    Thanks for the help,

    wildmda,

I am biased of course, but I think Mac's and B&Ws work very well together. I have the MX120. It is an excellent performer. Very good video scaling, superb HT and excellent 2 channel. I have a MC252 powering my 802D's. It delivers a ton of current, which the 802D's love. The 402 would be an outstanding choice.

By considering Mac/Classe, etc., you are in decidedly high performance as well as high price territory. Your ears are the best guide of course. You definitely need to try to demo these/explore them at a dealer. I demo'd Mac's, Classe and Krell. The Mac's were the best to me.

If you do get a Mac pre-amp and amp, at some point, I would consider a used Mac multi-channel amp for the center and surrounds. The system synergy is worth it.

I hadn't heard the MX120 was discontinued. It might lead to a good opportunity.

    Hope this helps.

How about Krell pre 222 Evolution and a pair of monoblocks - 400 or 600 Evolution? For center, Krell 2250 (bridged at 1000wpc) will work. Check it out.

        Mac Mini as Music Server
        by mb225
        Hi all,

I'm looking to move to a high quality digital music server. I'm thinking of using a Mac Mini with a 2TB drive as my base. I need the 2TB drive since I rip all of my music to wav. I have a Cambridge Audio DacMagic and I was planning on connecting the Mac via digital output (USB,...

I am reading the mx120 is two channel. I am not sure what this fully means so am needing some education. Will the McIntosh MX120 it work for HT as well as music?

        I would have the following:

        802D fronts
        HTM2 center
        ASW855 sub
        685 rears

        ...

Building a new DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) based around 2014 Mac Pro
        by JonMarsh
As I mentioned recently in another post I'm putting together a new DAW (well, actually it will be used for more than that, but the DAW aspect is a big part of the configuration choice, particularly as regards storage and connectivity).

Because of the extensive experience I have with...

Mac Mini HTPC w/ Elgato EyeHome
        by junior77blue
I'm looking at purchasing a new mac mini for a HTPC, mainly for music.

I would plan on hooking this up to my HDTV via S-video.

Has anyone experienced using Elgato Eyehome for macs? I'm trying to figure out what the purpose of this device really is. Is it just for a better...

B&W 803s and new amp: Classe or Mac?
        by beaverlake
I know, I know - B&W/Classe is a "classic" pairing from the same audio group. But in spite of a comfortable budget I have to keep my costs in mind.

        I'm replacing 3 x Musical Fidelity XP-200s (LCR, 200w each bridged) and a Rotel 1562 (100wpc). I have 2 x B&W 803s,...
