Advice sought please from 800 series and Rotel 1575 owners?

    Hi All,

I have the 1570/1575 combo, and the latter being a 5x250 watt Class D amp.

It powered my 600 series to high levels, possibly too high as one of my rears popped a midrange driver. Only once did the amp clip into 'safe mode', i.e. red light comes on and have to wait a few minutes before returning power. Ths was at a house party and I cranked it to 91 on volume. Normally listen at 85 max for movies, 80 for music.

However, I now have 803D and 805S (HTM3S on order) and the amp seems to clip at a similar volume to before, and reasonably frequently, level 84 to 87?

Its more prominent when 803D's are set to full range on processor. Now I have set it to small with crossover @ 60hz to sub and its much better, but still occasionally clips when giving it the berries?

Just a bit gutted that I was expecting a bigger output and soundstage, and now im scared to turn it up?

Any suggestions please. I cant afford to replace the amp, and ve only just bought it 8O

Please ignore my post and my ignorance.

It appears I had a wiring problem. All seems to be better now ops:

      Hi WelshOne,

So what had you done wrong? There's no shortage of mistakes around here so feel free to let us know.

The manual states that the protection circuitry only normally activates when there is a wiring issue or the amp itself overheats, which on my rack I doubt. In extreme cases severe impedance drops.

So, checked my wiring and surprise surprise, in my excitement to fit the speakers saturday, I wired one of the rear 805S out of phase, and one of the main front left channels were biwired, but not configured in their respective pairs to the speaker terminals, if you understand what I mean. ops:

I'd also not recalibrated the new speakers to the processor, the levels were way out compared to the 600 series package. So I was probably also trying to turn it up too loud to compensate for the tonal mismatches to my CDM centre speaker.

Either way, a bit embarassed, but have to be honest in case anyone has concerns themselves over the kit itself, I know i'd want to know :E

Its working and perfoming like a dream now, although im too scared to fiddle with processor settings

Off to hide under a stone for a while now....................

So can you now get the volume you want without clipping?

          Nigel.

I havent gone too mad, but in a nutshell yes.

The SPL it is producing at around 84/85 is way more than comfortable, disturbing for others in the house, and possibly neigbours.

I havent had the time to crank it up, but I think its unneccesary and probably irresponsible tbh, I more than happy with its output now, thankfully! :B

            Cheers

Hi, can you tell me how you like the 1575 driving the B&W. I just upgrade to the 804s and use the RMB1075 to drive them. Looking to upgrade and wondering if the 1575 is a good match?

After some tweaking I absolutely love it! I'd have to admit that over level 87ish, particularly for BD movies, the amp can eventually activate its thermal protection circuitry, but these volumes are deafening, and not really safe audibly for long term listening imo.

Its as if the system is now playing much louder without having to turn it up? Before mid 80's on the processor would be very loud, now im finding late 70's/early 80's is awesome, too loud actually. Not quite sure what is going on there, anyone care to explain?

The odd thing is the speakers are changing all the time, or so im perceiving it, and its definitely for the better. The dynamic capability is what is standing out, particularly for AV. Things are quiet when it should be, dead quiet, and frighten the pants off me when certain scenes kick in. Ive never experienced this before :B

Its as if the amp and processor are improving too, but ive had them since march and they are used extensively, so they are pretty well run in to start with

A few weeks ago I was toying with upgrading, now I feel im more than happy with the performance.

The sound appears very clean, neutral and crisp with superb dynamics, but never really becoming bright or edgy.

I do notice some sibilance with some cd's for 2CH listening, but its silky smooth on others, so maybe its the recording.

Obviously there are better/more expensive amps, as always is the case, but value for money I couldnt be happier.

If I had some spare cash now id consider the 2x250 class D amp to biamp the 803D's, but right now its not necessary imo.

                Hope this helps :

Sounds like its your speakers that needed the run in and are now performing the way the should
                  Happy listening Welsh

                    Rotel 1572/1575 Power Spec?
                    by WelshOne
Can anyone tell me please what the power output is of these amplifiers after 4ohm?

                    I understand they are 250w into 8ohm, 500w into 4 ohm...............?

My speakers dip down to 3.6ohm, and im curious as to whether my 1575 is sufficient for them.....it certainly sounds good?...

                    Rotel 1570/1575 12v trigger problem
                    by RichardB
                    Hi,

I have recently picked up a Rotel 1570/1575, and I am having a few problems with the 12v trigger between the 1570/1575. I am unable to get the 1575 to power on while using the trigger when turning the 1570 on. I have the trigger cable connected to trigger out 1 on the 1570, and the...

Question about Rotel 1575 & more
                    by manjo
                    Hi all,

Just joined this forum. Have a few questions.

                    1st question:
I am considering a Rotel 1575, and PSB Image T65 speakers and SV12 plus sub-woofer. The question is does the 1575 have provision for a subwoofer ? The spec says 5x250W receiver, but I thought if...

                    Anyone tried the RMB-1575 ??
                    by mjb
I'm thinking about replacing my RB-1092/1091 combo (driving 802d's) with a RMB-1575 - replacing three boxes with one, and with only 3db less output. Added to which, it will nicely match the yet to arrive RSP-1570 (WAF). This a good or bad idea? I'm also wondering what ICE modules they're using in the...
