As above please, I currently have 2 x Arcam P85's in my possession and I was considering doing a quick experiment of bridging them to see how it'd sound. I've had a read through the manual and i'm currently bi-amping my speakers (A85 running highs and P85 running lows). Now i've read about bridging the amp's but I really don't get how it works, and the manual doesn't explain it in much detail either. The A85 has a pre-out button which you can click it so it acts as a pre amp, do I then use one P85 for each speaker, as that's my understanding of it so far?
*goes to try and connect it up*
I may have figured something out. I managed to get them both working, one powering each speaker and Sp 1 & 2 on each amp running the bass and treble (bi-wired). Also the A85 I have switched to 'Pre Amp' via the switch on the back and it seems to still work. At the moment I can only test it using the ipod as I don't have enough interconnects to plug in my CD player! Seems to go SUPER load (like night club loud lol) but obviously I can't really test any discerning sound quality improvement without using the CD 192 and some test discs. I'm thinking theroetically it should improve quality though, as the P85's are soley powering the speakers and the A85 is left to sound processing alone. What do you reckon?? Can't work out whether it's worth keeping my spare P85. It does look pretty serious though with them all hooked up - I took a pic
