Hey, I just started the process of building up my system starting with the 684s. What a way to start! I can't wait to hook up a better amp. I currently run a classic Sony STR-6065 receiver which provides plenty of power, but not enough clarity. Can a decent integrated amp be had under $700? I have a good sized living room with a vaulted ceiling. The speakers are across from a couch and drapes, so echo isn't an issue but the room swallows the sound.

Should be able to find a used Rotel RB-1080 for right around that price that would make a pretty big difference. The big problem in clarity is the Sony Receiver itself... the components in the unit aren't as good as something you'd get with higher end stuff.
However, a nice amp is a good way to start the upgrade process.Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers in my music system and am unsure as to what route to go. I have Rotel componenets (RCD-1072, RC-1082, RB-1080) and an older set of bookshelf speakers (Energy RVS) with an Energy encore sub. The system is in a finished carpeted basement which...-

by Tony1My room is 13.5' by 26'. I've been thinking about upgrading to 803D's for mains but not sure if I will benefit from the upgrade. The speakers will be less than a foot away from the back wall. Not sure if I put acoustic treatment behind the 803d will help? I've heard that big speakers may sound...-

by caberxxMy sound room is 15' x 24' x 9'. I'm wondering if the 800 Diamonds would be too big for this room?? What room sizes do others have with the 800's? Thanks for any advice.-

by RebelManI am evaluating future upgrade possibilities and I have the 802D's under consideration. I currently own the 803S's and they fit my living space well. However, I am concerned that the larger 802D's may not be suitable and may lock me into an 803D's only upgrade. That wouldn't be a bad thing but I...-
