Can't believe the article doesn't even mention that B & W has made a speaker for many years that looks like this. "it was an odd, nautilus shape that really defies description"....No it would be easy to describe it as blatant ripoff of a speaker that another manufacturer makes.

I wouldn't doubt that they reversed engineered the real thing; and came up with this monstrosity. The sad thing is some hapless soul will wind up buying that ugly thing, further fueling the China Faux industry. :M

Funny thing, I seen those on Ebay a couple of weeks ago and the guy couldnt even get a starting bid on them. I emailed the guy who wrote the article and let him know what they really were, cheap knockoffs.

China is the knock off capital of the world. Frankly I'm surprised they haven't mfg'd some of the B&W flag ship speakers earlier.

What that picture doesn't show is how small they were..

I liked the name of the company "Forgings Industrial Co." Seems fitting.

They were at last year's CES also. Any B&W ethusiast will know fake snails when they see them.

                    Hi everyone!

Has anyone listened to the Nautilus (The snail shape) in comparison with the new 800d and 801d?

If you guys do, i just have some questions.

1: What do you think the bass difference between the 800d/801d with B&W Nautilus(Snail Shape)? ...

I have been planning to upgrade to the 802D or 800D, but am in the rare position of having a wife pushing me for the Nautilus (the snail). It's simply a dramatic piece of sculpture, even if you never turn it on, and is probably the most extraordinary speaker ever made from a design point of view. ...

It sounds like there are two of us here (hi Aldo) seriously pondering a Nautilus purchase. And we both already have McIntosh amps in our current system.

I listened to some tube Glass Master amps yesterday at the Dynamic Audio showroom in Tokyo (truly one of the most astounding audiophile...

I saw "THE" Nautilus speakers yesterday. WOW
                    by Ash
                    Yesterday I was a happy man! :B

I travelled to a neighboring country for work and I decided to stop by the B&W dealership there.

To my surprise the first thing I saw there was a pair of the "Snail" Nautilus speakers (blue colour) displayed behind glass. It...
