    Onkyo???

    Hi everybody,

Just a quick question... Anybody had a chance of using onkyo recivers for the B&W set-up? Have you found out that / could you state that other brands you have used worked better? Denon, NAD etc...

BTW: this is for 600 series...

    Thanks guys for any inputs.

I've been using the Integra DTR 7.2 (part of the Onkyo family) with 603 S3, LCR 600, 600 surrounds, ASW 600 for three years now and have only positive things to say. Great receiver! Great sound both in HT and 2-channel.

Yes, you're right...it is higher end Onkyo. I just recommend you have a look at the Integra line if you're thinking of going the Onkyo route.

I used to have an Onkyo TS-DS575x (I think that's the model) with my B&W 600 HT setup. Upgraded to the Marantz, and it was a big difference in soundstage and lower frequency. For the price, I'd recommend a Marantz. Just my 2 cents.

If you are interested, I have a Denon AVR5800 for sale for $1350 (~$4,000 new). It is mint and has sat on a shelf for years as I dove deep into horns, tubes and two channel audio. Audiogon 9 or 10.

Email me and I will send pictures.

Yes. I had the SR6400 which is 105watts per channel.

Ric888, I have had the Onkyo TX-NR801 for a coupe of years. It did the job for a year or so and then I bought a BandK 125Wx2 amp for the fronts and used the Onkyo as the preamp to feed the new Band K. I did notice an immediate difference (much bigger sound, (my definition)). I was driving older 602's and the increase in power was nice for music. HT may have made a difference but it was not percievable to me... I have since upgraded the fronts to 703's but whatever your situation I would definitely recommend seperate amp for the fronts, particularly if you listen to alot of music......JV
