    B&W 600 vs ??

Hi , Have always pretty much been into the B&W speakers , started with some I think DM560 , moved on to the 601 range with the s2 now using a pair of 601 s3 .

I am pretty much a novice , so the question is do they speakers get tpo sound better the more cash you throw at them , or is it just the upgrade for the sake of it ? , got to say these little 601 s rock , dont see how music can get any sweeter , dont want a shopping list answer thanks .

    Cheers :T

Yes, the higher up you go the better things get. I went from the 600series (which I still have) to the N800 series and am very happy that I did.

      Moving up

Ditto... I went from the DM 330's to the 803S-- and there's no comparison!

if you have the cash go to the 800 series 800,802,803. If not have a listen to the Xt4 and the floor standing 700 series.

            Went from DM602 (S1) => DM602 S3 => 705 => N804 => DM603 S3 (last step was financially driven)

For me, the best performance / buck ratio was found with the DM602 S3!

What, if any, is the difference between going from the 602 s1's, to the s2's, all the way to the s3's? It seems that all the mid/bass drivers are the same and that the cabinents are almost identical. So is it just the tweeters that have changed and if so are the newer tweeters that much more superior (especially for the extra dollar).

                  Thanks,
                  Matt

I loved my 602 S3s, but gave them to my brother. Aren't I just a nice guy? I'm about to go and buy another pair for myself...

I loved my 602 s3's, then went to 705 for a week to 805s for a month then to the 804S current. The 602 s3 are one of the best bookself speakers that i heard. I also drove the 602s3 with a bryston 3BST and the sound was amazing. I still have the 601s3 as surround duty in HT.

Alot of people tend to get the upgrade bug before they throw the right amplification towards their speakers. IMO play with a few amps first then when you get the right sound by all means got to the 800 series. I tried to stay with the bookshelf but it was hard for me to intergrate a sub, so i went to floorstanders.

                          Hi everyone,

I'm really new to this forum and im am about to go with the B&W route. I have been reading diff. threads out in here specifically for the 600 range.
My plans are to go with DM 602 s3, LCR 60 or maybe 600 depending on your replies w/ probably the 600 for surrounds....

                          Hello all

Just wanted to say that IMHO the 600 series 3 standmount speakers are the best value speakers out there. They may not be the most fashionable speakers out there (I think the drivers look great though) but sound per pound, can they be beaten?

                          I first bought a pair...

I've finally decided to move to 5.1 instead of stereo hi-fi, so bought an AVR1804 (6x90W) and 602 fronts and 601 surrounds. I have a 6x5m room half open on 1 side, high ceiling, hard tiles. I listen to 90% music / 10% movies, at low levels (just enough to hear all the sounds). I have always been against...
