    B&W DM220i / DM220 ¿?

    Greetings B&W fans,

I have long used a pair of DM220i's in my studio as monitors. A sudden loud blast blew both fuses and the left channel woofer. I replaced fuses of course, but that woofer is shot. That woofer had been replaced once actually, by a stereo shop, and i felt was always questionable. Rather than go to them again, or try to find someone else, i thought i would try to replace this pair of 220i's.

I found a pair of B&W 220's for sale on the internet, that look to be in good shape. My question for you is: What is the difference between the two sonically, if any? I notice they are slightly different aesthetically, the 220's being on stands.

Are there actual differences in the design as well? If not, would parts be interchangeable? Thank you!

    by Aussie Geoff
    Hi,

I have a new RB 1080 that has blown it's one of internal fuses (the ones between the power supply and the output stage) twice for the left channel. This is my second unit, the other blew the right channel fuses. Once replaced (with 6.3Amp slow blow fuses. the amp is fine again).

RB 1080 Fuses and Heat (Long post)
    by cfrahme52
I've owned the RB1080 since March 2004. I believe it is what is referred to as version 3-it has the dual "WBT-like" speaker binding posts.
After over a year of use (listening to classical, chamber, rock, jazz at "healthy" volumes) I lost the right channel.
    A friend,...

Breaking with modern conventions - a highly musical 2-way system using an 8" woofer
    by theSven
    By Jon Hancock

This article will describe the fruits of my efforts to build a moderate sized speaker which might be moderately above average in performance for a basic two-way system. I desired a speaker like this both for my own use in secondary systems, and to fill a need for some friends, who desired fairly full range response (i.e., “it’s gotta have good bass”). Also, though I have access to a good wood shop, many potential DIY enthusiasts may not, so I hoped to use a modified...
