    Which rear speakers to use?

I have seen several posts on different ways to position and set up the rear speakers. Here is my delima. Just left the store after putting in an order on new 805s and the HTM4 (black). I already have a pair of CWM200 inwall rears that I was going to set up with the older 601s3. They are still in the box. I sold the 601s3 to upgrade to the 805s. Sold the LCR600 to upgrade to the HTM4. Funds are very limited at this point.

Everythinkg I have read notes that the 805s sound best with the DS8 for the rears. I have do not see the need to spend $3000 for rears. The DS7 is $1500 as well. I was thinking of the CDS6. Has any one ever heard these and in what system? There are several used for 400.00. Or maybe used for the DS7 is one way to go. What have others used for rears with this system or in your current system? I can go either in wall or on the wall as well as on a stand.

The room is large 19x25x8. My equipment is:
    Rotel 1068
    1075
    DVD 1060
    Monster 5100

Thanks for the insight and help.

    Hi Boone38

I had (still have them, just not the 805's anymore) DS6 S3 as rears with my N805/NHTM2 setup, and they were a fine match for HT IMO!

In monopole mode the tweeters don't match up, but in diPole mode they didn't sound out of place.

    Cheers, Paul

...I had the DS6 S1's originally (the S1's didnt have a tweeter i.e. switchable for monopole mode) and so I upgraded to the newer S3's about 10 months ago, hoping that they would be ok for multichannel music - the Nautilus SCM's were just too expensive IMO seeing as my original plan was to move my 805's to the sides as rears and have those speakers as rear centres in a 7.1 config - the rear centres are just gap-fillers really?

My findings with the DS603 S3's were that the tweeters sounded edgy and unrefined in comparison to my Nautilus. I only ended up using them in diPole mode - believe it or not this actually sounded fine (to my ears) even in multichannel music...demo these little guys first if you can tho, you may not agree wtih me?

Lastly, I do think that the rounded shape of the DS603 models suits the aesthetics of the Nautilus models?

          805S - Large or Small?
          by EastCoaster
In tweaking my system, I'm finding out that I prefer to set my four 805S's and HTM4 to "Large" instead of "Small", and send the bass to both the 805's and my ASW825...

Now, I don't listen to music or watch movies at extraordinarily high volumes, but I do like it...

803S/805S setup - now up and running, and yes, it's impressive!
          by jazzyjez
In October 2007 I asked the question on this forum: "Is an 803/4/5 setup too large for my room?" To briefly recap, I was initially considering the 700 series, but was then trying to determine whether the 800 series would work for me given my slightly narrow room (12ft / 3.7m) and my wishes...

          805S with Bryston 3BST
          by shades
I just received the Bryston 3BST and hooked it up ASAP to my 805S. The amp is obviously broke in being it's used. The sound is amazing pushing the 805's with the proper recordings. With bad recordings it will show it to you right away.

My question is the 3BST (rated 120wpc, tested at...
