made couple changes to the bedroom setup, no more dac/502/557

now bi-amping the speakers and got my self a 1080p projector.

No its not really the right thread. But check out http://audiomarkt.de/, or any of the many other european used hifi sites. Audiogon.com is also very popular in the states, but while there are some european sellers, most are american. Finally try ebay.

Is is just me or have you forgotten to remove the transportation screws on on the back of your 802's? Take a look there should be a label that tells you how to remove it..

Those are the original phase plugs that the speakers came with he just screwed them in the back for safe keeping. It looks like he changed them out to something that is not plastic but a metal of some sort...

They are not the transport plugs but the plastic phase plugs, didn't make any difference to sound so kept them on. They protect the nordost cables I got plugged into the binding post at the bottom of the speaker which is near the wall.

Ouch! The 802's are WAY TOO CLOSE to the wall for any decent sound! Give them at least 1 meter, PLEASE!

I don't think it is a good idea to keep the phase plugs there. The hole you are using is used to allow for decompression of the mid range, so I would be surprised if there is no audible effect.
But otherwise I like the clean look of the room..

Looking to upgrade a bit, that's all. The first order of business will be the turntable. Looking at the Avid Diva or the Pro-Ject RPM 9.2.

Speakers and power amp will change too, but that's still up in the air.

3 surrounds and not 4, why did you go with a 6.1 setup and not a full 7.1 or are you including the center as a surround speaker thus only actually running 5.1?

Help with Crossover set up 804D

Hi Guys, I'm new in the forum and I have some doubts that maybe someone could help me, one of them it's the crossover set up, Audyssey was set my fronts in large(obviously always does) and my others speakers in small, but I want set the crossover for the fronts with 60Hz and 80 Hz for the rest of my speakers; it is could be bad set up? why most people always set them like small with 80 Hz for crossover if they can easily drive 60 Hz waves? Why spent money in speakers like 802D if you only put 80 Hz an above wave in them? Obviously a good sub could drive much better this bass output I know that but I want to know why recommend this configuration.

My Wish You Were Here SACD finally arrived yesterday. I am very impressed with it even on my measley 802 Diamonds and HTM2 Diamond :B There is a very nice mixture of subtle use of the surrounds and very dramatic use of them as well. I am not currently running my 7.1 setup but there were instances in the songs where the music in the surrounds was perfectly placed so that it was coming at me from the sides and what seemed like behind, very nicely done. The front soundstage is incredibly clear and tight, every bit as good as the DSOTM SACD.

It's to bad The Wall isn't getting a SACD release to coincide with the Immersion and Experience editions.

Hi, I never had a chance to ask but why are you moving away from 802's for the surrounds in favor of 805s? I definitely understand wanting to replace the center 802 with a matching 800 to your mains but going to 805 seems like a serious downgrade.

:B Well, if something happened to my 802s and I couldn't replace them with another pair of 802s and I had to use 805's, that sir is what I call a serious down grade. The 805's are far from the equal to the 802's in my opinion.

Now I do understand wanting to create system synergy and having the 805 Diamonds not only gets wettou diamonds on his surrounds which he did not have it also gets him diamonds from the same gereration as his 800s.

Do you think the 805 Diamonds are a better speaker than the N802s? I know the N's are based on older technology but they are still using the triple cabinet design with separate bass, mid and high frequency drivers and of course the marlan head. I guess the high frequencies of the 805 Daimonds would be better, perhaps much better but would that make up for what I suspect the mid and bass frequencies of the N802 would have over the 805 Diamond????

Edit: I was thinking wettou was selling N802's but I see it's actually 802 Diamonds. Now I know the 802 Diamonds have got to out perform the 805 Diamonds, come on now :P

My next upgrade will be a new multi AMP(parasound halo A51 or classe CA-5300).
The 804S are really good but it is a different league to the diamond series, the 805D defeat far away to the 804 in quantity and quality sound, I don't believed how much the new crossover provide to the new series, I think that it was the most important upgrade.

Thanks for your experience. It is rare to hear one take this upgrade path. :T Makes me one to one day upgrade my HTM3S to match from 802 Diamonds.

One day i'll have big boy speakers like you guys.

Right now i'm just rocking the 683s. Got them for 50% off when I worked at best buy. Going to keep them in the family room, and get some higher end ones for my future man cave next year.

Just bought the MM-1's for my computer. I think they sound great...maybe a little overpriced. No regrets though.
