Right now I am running a RMB-1075 to the center B&W CMC and back surround 2 pair of B&W CM-2's (7.1) and the RMB-1070 is running the mains B&W CM-6. enjoy the pictures. I Also need to replace the Energy sub but not sure if I want to go with B&W....any comments... :T

        Woo Wooo,

        Nuce setup..

How do you stop those cabinet doors from rattling - I have similar units on the outside of my speakers and they "get a litttle excited" when the deep bass gets going...

I've never had a problem with the doors rattling, the doors are made with very heavy wood..... or at least I've never heard them do it. :E
I'm getting very close to buying my Rotel 1098 and I may have some questions for you B4 I pull the trigger.... Also what sub are you running is it B&W and what model is it. I need to replace this old Energy I'm running to.

            Woo Wooo,

Club Rotel is the place for your RSP-1098 questions - I'm a very happy owner of one (as are many others) and we will be happy to answer...

Personally I have two Dali SWA-15 subs (1000W 15 inch) becuase the B&W sub pricing in Australia is just silly and the Dalis are very similar specs and design and less than 1/2 the price in Aussie... If I were to buy B&W subs I love their ASW 850 (replaced by the ASW 875 in February 2005) and we have several VERY happy owners of the ASW 850.

The ASW750 is a nice sub (15 inch 1000W etc like the 850). Personally I have not liked many of the smaller B&W subs than that (but I have a large room and love (crave?) deep bass...

Otherwise I'd be thinking (if you are in the USA) something from SVS like their PB-Plus/2 or PB-Ultra/2 for some cost effective awesome bass...

            Geoff

Nice setup you have there (close to my own )! Your center placement doesn't seem that bad to me, but for the time being you could 'tilt' it a bit. Especially since the bottom of your table is currently blocking and/or reflecting the sound.

              Good luck!
              weijst,

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try...but have to check if there is space in the rack to tilt the HTM7. BTW, do you usually leave your speaker grills off?? I find the sound a bit clearer when the grills are off....but I am concerned how dust would cling to the woofers....

Here's my humble system, it's about 5 years old.

                Toshiba 57HX81
                CDM 7SE
                CDM CSE
                Servo-15A
                DS6

Wouldn't change the speakers, except for the surrounds, but would love to get a new pre/pro and amp.

That depends on the mood I'm in and the people that are comming over... . No really, sometimes I take them off when I'm planning on sitting down and really listen to some music for about half an hour. But I usually leave them on. The sound might be a little clearer when the grilles are off, but I don't experience this as a 'ground breaking difference', especially not during HT playback.
As for the dust, taking the speakers of carefully every once in a while with a dry cloth helps.

You can always spray the cones with an air duster can. That way, you don't have to touch the cones.

All systems out there are great, very nicely set up! Keep it up!

                                    My DM6 setup

My current home cinema consists of B&W speakers.
To be exact: DM605 S2 as fronts, LCR6 S2 as centrer and DM601 S2 as rear/surround speakers Oh. Almost forgot my ASW2500 subwoofer.

I have no pictures at the moment because I'm right in the middle of moving..
And I'm planning on getting Rotel electronics to go with the B&W's.

                                            Hey Jeremy man,

Just some friendly advice for ya: Would you not be better off with your mains equidistant from your TV, and putting your AV rack elsewhere (likely as simple as on the other side of your right speaker)?

I know this is what I'd do, and I think most here would agree. However, it's quite possible that you have a valid reason for not doing this...

                                            Anyways, just trying to help!

                                              Hi RJW1138,
Thanks for the tip. The reason I do not do that is because of the room layout that cannot be seen in the pic. I need a wider soundstage to fill the seating area. But thank you for the suggestion.
                                              Love them Bimmers.

                                                Rear Speakers

                                                Guys,

Previously, I posted the front of the set-up. Here are my rear speakers. They are SCM8's from B&W's THX speaker package. They are dipoles, with a tweeter and mid/base on each side. We put new fabric on it to blend with the room (they were black triangles before). This approach has good WAF. :T

There are so many great photos!!! It is really cool to see all of the awesome B&W set-ups.

I've been so focused on the "New B&W Nautilus Range" thread, I haven't been browsing around much - but I now noticed this great thread - let me join in and post a few photos. My complete system can be viewed through a link in my signature.

                                                    Enjoy, Dan

Thanks, but you can believe it comes with sacrifice, I eat cheap, drive a ten year old truck, don't go out much, watch my pennies (except when it comes to my system), don't have a closet full of new clothes, but I enjoy every minute listening to my system, even though my wallet is thin!! The 700 series is awesome - there is always newer, bigger - enjoy the music and movies!!! :T

Well, I posted a link to my pics earlier in this thread, but thought I'd post some pics directly. We call this "The Loft Theater" because it is upstairs in a room that partially overlooks the great room below. This is version 2 of my home theater setup...previous components have been moved to the aforementioned great room below. Speaker setup consists of B&W CDM NT series all around (CDM 9NTs in front, CDM CNT center, and CDM 1NTs for surrounds). FWIW, we recently added the small fridge and microwave in the back for convenience...

Those ones look like theyre nice and stable while getting the speaker up high enough for surrounds. Are you happy with them?

I am very pleased with the results! The surround effects now are more diffuse. I also played with settings in my processor to blend the surrounds and rears with 5.1 material. Of course with Dolby Digital EX, or DTS-ES it's awesome!

Before I got the rears, and with the surrounds being so close to my ears (and aimed directly at my head), the surround sound was fairly directional. I was thinking of aiming the surrounds differently to fix that (straight back toward the rear wall, or straight forward, or straight at each other), then I bought the rears. I don't plan on any speaker upgrades for a long, long time!! My wallet says "Thank-you"!! :B

                                                                              Dan

                                                                              1) Create or edit the post you want to attach the thumnails too.
                                                                              2) Use the <Manage Attachments> button to bring up the dialogue box for managing attachments.
                                                                              3) Use the <Browse> button from this to select the file you want to attach, THEN
                                                                              4) Use the <Upload> button to actually upload the thumbnail.
                                                                              5) Repeat steps (3) and (4) as needed to attach multiple thumbnails.

You can also create links to your own web site if you have one by using the I-M-G tags...

                                                                              I hope this helps!

With music sources I do tend to keep them angled in further than in the pics. For HT they tend to sound better with a lack of angle. When I took the pics I had just watched the extras disc of the new Fifth Element Special Edition disc.

I'm getting sick of all the rereleases of DVD's... unless it's truly an upgrade (like the Top Gun Special Edition which here in Canada was only $13.99 CDN!!!... original version which wasn't even anamorphic and had terrible sound was $29.99 list but was reduced to $16.99 when word that a special edition was in the works... the special edition with the improved picture quality and DTS sound was worth rebuying) I have refrained from buying the same movie... now I already own fifth element superbit... I see that this new release has been remastered in high definition... can somebody let me know if this new version has better picture and sound quality? I already use the 5th element superbit as one of my reference discs for picture and sound quality... I can't see it getting much better... let me know.

I rented the original release and I have never seen or heard the Superbit release. I will say that the two hour extras disc which came with the Ultimate was pretty enlightening.
