    Subjective information VS Objective information

Subjective information is one person's opinion. Objective information reviews many points of view. It is intended to be unbiased.
This will probably piss some people off "oh well" BUT the people its intended for will not have a problem and will agree with the last comment and that's who its for.
Just a little rant that was caused by a several recent comment on A well known PART'S web sight and the way they have dealt with the comments. They sell audio gear and a decent line of speakers that I am sure most people on this sight have and like. I have all ways had very satisfying experiences in my dealings with them. I have purchase many Dayton line speakers and gear from them and the main reason is I have always been treated PROFESSIONALLY along with some decent pricing considering the recent inflation surge.
I all ways read and study reviews and right ups on lets say a speaker that I am considering purchasing. I have seen a trend the last 40 years that seems to happen when a person buys a product, lets say speakers. They hear good things about it from a friend or on the internet then they fork over the cash and they are thrilled. Now there could be several better speakers at a lower price, or it could be the worst sounding speaker but NAME BRAND, BUT they will defend there purchase to the end, so I don't put a hole lot of attention in most reviews. I pick the review apart and TEST it, is there technical data, any untruths, assumptions, well respected author, etc. I put more weight on the Objective information than I do the Subjective information.
Enter the forums and blogs, and there champions, I call them malcontents! These are the people that read your post or review and then if you don't do exactly what they would do or isn't exactly what they would buy, or think the way they think they immediately wright a comment. These comment are usually full of wild assumptions, fantasy, and your mother is usually some where in there too! More than not deductive thinking is no where in there thinking and actions. "Kinda reminds me of OUR political parties ad's"
You can almost take ANY speaker in the line up and read all the reviews and every one will pretty much be 5 stars and have the phrase "best speaker I have every heard" or some thing like "sounds better that speaker three times there price". Now, god forbid you don't paticurly like the speaker and it does not fit the sound you like or more importantly lacks the sound YOU like. You decide to review it and give it a sub par star rating and refer to it in a poor way. To you It lacks good/true representations of say snare drums, upper violin notes or cymbals . And there are other speakers in that price range that DOES do a better job on those sounds your looking for and like hence the poor rating.
Case in point, This was a response to a recent poor rating:

    From.
if its 2 loud ur 2 old

If you can't get this tweeter to sound >good your doing something wrong. Everyone who knows how to cross these tweeters right loves them. This tweeter w/either the 6.5" or 5.25" Dayton Classic woofers with a proper x-over and box can sound incredible. Check out the projects section for speakers that use this tweeter and study/copy their x-overs for this tweeter. Point is, its not the tweeter, its how its being used

WELL, Like I said, "These comment are usually full of wild assumptions, fantasy, and your mother is usually some where in there too! More than not deductive thinking is no where in there thinking and actions."

At least my mother was left out of the rant!

This person has NO idea of how it was implemented but because he obviously loves it he decides with no FACTS in hand that it was used wrong and that "" Everyone who knows how to cross these tweeters right loves them"

His assumption was published but A true reply was turned down by this respected seller.

    Response:

I built the exact cross over from Curt's web sight The TRIUN 07 http://speakerdesignworks.com/Tritrix_pg_1.html . And was also in the Tri Trix Cross/inclosure. The parts where purchased from seller using Curt's recommendations from his web sight and I don't think his designs are flawed at all as I have built several other design's with GREAT success!

All so my brother has A set (my old ones) And they sound TOO ME "in there range" the same in his cabinets as they did in mine (relative speaking).

TO ME, there sound just isn't there, but my brother likes them and I am the one that built his cross over all so!

I obviously hurt there feelings so this seller is allowing this kind of child's play.

I have built many speakers using respected DIY designer's spec's and have LOVED most of the drivers BUT not all, some just don't reproduce the sound I like, you might some one else so so. And that's the fun of our hobby you can build your own or follow there designs or get help and come up with a nice sounding system.

I know all this might sound petty to some but I HATE seeing this kind of crap find its way into our hobby, wheres it guna stop? There are some big heads in this hobby/business and most of us know who they are when they look down on newbi/beginners or just because someone doesn't know quantum physics.

There is many of these kind of reply's popping up on that sight and that's the reason for this...

TO ME, on a professional businesses web sight there should be NO room for that crap AT ALL!

    Sound off

Audio babble ... ojective vs subjective
    by agrippa
I love reading audio reviews. People try to describe what they hear using terms like:
airy, tight, warm, detailed, bright, cold, dark, clean, balanced, neutral, defined, vibrant, silky smooth, thin, bloated, splashy, revealing and so on.

What would be nice if someone would take...

I've been working on the Wiki pages I posted about some days ago.

I believe I've found a real need that can be solved by using the Wiki. Although there's lots of information around on how to build speakers, there isn't a place for newbies to...

    Objective Reviews. Do they exist??
    by Markmm
Has anyone found a site/magazine which truly does objective reviews? I've been hunting around at tons of review sites (Secrets HTHIFI, Audioholics, UltimateAV, and more..) and according to them, every product is wonderful and should be bought. I'd like to find one that is willing to say, "Don't...

disappointing lower midrange performance from woofers, why do people cross high?
    by thadman
I became aware of some testing Zaph did regarding the RSS315HF and RS270. I was surprised to say the least, the distortion looked pretty bad. The RSS315HFs 3rd harmonic levels reach .3% at 200hz (wasn't measured beyond this) and the RS270 maintained .3% 3rd harmonic levels from 200-500hz and ~.4%...
