If you checked the news, you may have read about a horrible killing of a young Asian woman. What's horrible aside from that fact, is where they found her body. Apparently she was in a drinking water tank at a HOTEL for up to two weeks. I swear, I read that, and I about  They talked to some people that said the water tasted weird. You think? What is this world coming to anymore...
When in LA right now, drink bottled water!

I saw that on the news. I would probably throw up and then probably go to the hospital for decontamination!!If you checked the news, you may have read about a horrible killing of a young Asian woman. It is more of the old 'hot dog' syndrome....
If you knew what was in it, you would never eat one.
If you knew what was in most of the processed stuff you now eat you would starve to death.
You would also be suprised to find out how many bottled waters are made from municipal tap water.
British Whooper with horse meat? Big deal!
Their law says it can contain up 1% horse meet, no problem, no disclosure required.
My wife & I gave up processed food long ago.
We both were in the food service industry for a while.
There are some things you are better off not knowing, sometimes.
I refer you to the documentary, ‘Food Inc’.
Now, where did I put my can of foie gras?

Hey Bill, I agree processed foods are terrible, although I do believe you said you ate pizza the other day
Quite a few processed foods in there like complex carbs from the flour lol. It's hard to avoid processed foods entirely. But I think avoiding the stuff that is HIGHLY processed and made mostly from corn and other substances is likely the best approach at the very least.

well, we all know there's things in foods, we are better off not knowing, even base grains. We KNOW. The only way you have half a clue what is in your food is if you grow it all yourself. That's pretty hard to do for most of us. But woman in your water, is not something you think of in a hotel. Geesh. Poor girl too. I do not make light of the loss of her life, very sad.Doug

Blech..... Yucky about the water.
As far as stuff that's in food, well, EVERY food product out there has contaminants to some degree or another, so I'm not worried about it. It's all a mental thing. My wife is weird about that. She heard once that ketchup has a particular tolerance of X amount of bug parts per million gallons of ketchup, and it grossed her out so much she stopped eating it for the rest of her life. I've tried many times to point out to her that EVERY food out there has a regulated "bug part" tolerance or whatever by the FDA. She doesn't want to hear it.
I say just forget about what's in food. As long as it's cooked properly, or comes from a reputable grocer, or is packaged, go for it. (i.e. don't be stupid and eat raw chicken, or egg salad that has been sitting on some back-alley cart)
I think we actually are TOO averse to "cooties" nowadays, and it lowers our resistance to allergies and bacteria. Me, over the course of my life, eating stuff literally all around the world, I've got a stomach of steel (inside a gut of fat)
and it takes a LOT to get my stomach upset.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I stand corrected, Dougie!
It seems I did in fact say that, though it was in passing as joke.Last edited by wkhanna; 21 February 2013, 20:58 Thursday.- Bottom

Agreed. I say, dirt and 'cooties' makes your immune system stronger. Ever noticed how all the people that take antibiotics too often are the one's that are always sick??. Radiation exposure is of course, over doing it!! :E
