New Blu-ray player in the theater

I own both a Panasonic BD30 and a BD35 which are connected to a Yamaha LPX510 lcd projector, and a BenQ W10000 respectively. I still have over 1000 dvds so I was looking for something better than the BD35 ( which is OK, but could be better ) for dvd upconversion. After reading about the Panasonic BD85 and how much it has been hailed because of its excellent dvd upconversion, I decided to get one. So I moved the bD30 out, connected the BD35 to the Yamaha and connected the BD85 to my pride and joy, the BenQ W10000. And after viewing a few dvds I was absolutely amazed at how close the dvds looked to hi-def. In fact, with one dvd in particular ( I Robot ), which had a pretty good picture on the BD35 was just fantastic on the BD85. I could have sworn I was watching a Blu-ray. I bought the BD85 as an open box item for $200 CDN. It had never been used or even connected. It had a 30 day return on it if I wasn't happy. Suffice to say, I will be keeping this baby. I've always been partial to the PQ of the Panasonic players, and the 85 is something to behold. I have a friend who owns an OPPO and I am having a hard time telling the difference between it and the 85 when it comes to dvds, so even though I considered the OPPO 83, I am more than happy with my Panny.

With all the standard DVD's you have, your new 'baby' with up'ing sounds like the 'trick'. So glad to hear you’re happy with the performance.

      Enjoy, my dear friend!

My first dvd player was a Panasonic and I was very happy with the picture and sound. Later on, I bought an Oppo DV981HD HDMI enabled upconverting DVD player and was completely floored at the presentation. For DVD and BD players under $1K, Oppo is the best!!.

            Rebuys on HD-DVDs?
            by impala454
I was thinking about this the other day, and hear me out before you think I'm crazy.

            Ok so I have about 25 HD-DVDs, 30 Blu-rays, and 100+ SD-DVDs. I have a Toshiba XA2 & Panny BD30 to play them. Now at first I thought, there's no way in hell I'd rebuy all my HD-DVDs as blu-rays....

            Farewell BenQ W10000 projector
            by George Bellefontaine
As much as I love the picture on the BenQ W10000, I've given up on BenQ because of its poor quality workmanship. I first bought the BenQ in the Fall of 2008. After 110 hours the color wheel shattered. They replaced the projector. After less than 200 hours, the replacement unit lost half its picture....

            Oppo DV-980H or Panasonic DMP-BD30 for SD-DVD’s?
            by The13thGryphon
Although I am interested in acquiring a Blu-Ray player at some point now that the Hi-Def video format war is over, I don’t have a single BD-DVD at the moment… and I do have several hundred standard def DVD’s. Therefore, I want a machine that will up-convert my SD-DVD’s to HD with the highest...

            1069/Panasonic BD35 7.1 problems
            by aricoboyo
Hey guys, just recently switched over to a standalone BD player from a PS3. Picked up the Panasonic DMP-BD35. I'm having problems getting 7.1 on titles I was having no problems with on the PS3. Titles like The Orphanage, 3:10 to Yuma, and Dark City...all showing up 5.1. I've checked and rechecked all...
