    Wiring question

I have a plan to run speaker wire, an IR sensor, a Wii sensor, an HDMI wire, and romex to the same location, where I am mounting my tv.

I've already been advised that the romex and the speaker wire shouldn't be ran next to one another. I'm curious if I'm going to run into any addition problems with these other cables.

And is there a way to get away with running the speaker wire and the romex together. I know that in certain applications, like in automotive com cables, they have a foil wrap that works as a shield for interference.

You can purchase voltage dividers to go into the box to split up the hi/low voltage stuff. Or if you're mounting an arlington box you can just run them into their respective places. What is Romex? Is that what you guys call NDM?

      Romex is the electrical cable.

Romax typically doesn't have to be in conduit, but I'd run conduit for your theater wires, I'd have come out in two plates, you just can't mix electrical and non electrical, would never pass code.

You can mix low voltage and line voltage with a voltage divider, at least where I'm from. I would definitely run conduit and stub it out into the tbar ceiling or attic so that you can change cabling easily as the technology changes though, as Lex suggested. You'll have to run seperate conduits for the signal cables though unless they're insulated for the same voltage as your power wires.

I'm hoping somebody here can help me with an idea.

My house has a centralized equipment room in the lower level, distributed throughout the whole house. Therefore, for the two most important A/V zones, the theater and the living room, there is an in-wall conduit for each from the equipment...

What speaker wire/cable do you use for your rear surround channels?

The room is 23' feet deep. The amp is at the front, and the speakers are on the back wall. The speaker wire goes down through the floor at the back of the rack. Actually... The rack is at the front left corner of the...

Forgive me, I am not too knowlegable about electrical stuff. I want to upgrade the electrical outlets in my duplex 20 amp line for my amplifier. The line has two typical 20 amp outlets wired together (4 plugs). I would like to replace one of the outlets with a better hospital grade outlet. Here is my...
