    HD recording

I picked up a Sony HD hardrive video camera, and playing through a Blu-ray player the picture is great. My question is, if I want to burn the video to disc, I can only burn to standard def. Right? I mean I dont believe that their is a High Def burner, is there?

There are BD burners for computers but they're expensive (drive and media, both pricey). In a few years the prices will drop.

In the meantime, toss a big hard drive in your PC and store your videos there.

Thanks. I thought so. Got it covered with hardrive storage already, but I dont believe that the hardrive will recognize high def information. Wont it store the info in standard def?

Hard drives store files, they don't care what their contents are. Text files, music, video, HD video, it's just a bunch of ones and zeros. It's up to the software (media player codecs, etc.) to interpret those ones and zeros and turn them back into HD video.

You said you can play your videos through your Blu-Ray player. How are you doing that? Via a network share? USB connection from camera to player? Something else? Maybe a large-capacity USB hard drive you can plug into your BD player would do the trick. Just copy the files from your camera to the drive. Then plug that into your BD player when you want to watch videos.

A more flexible solution would be a HTPC, which could play media directly on your TV or projector.

Thanks again Kevin. Best Buy has a LG Blu-ray burner for 200 bucks, but the blank disc are 9 bucks each. The price of the discs will come down shortly, and it should be what Iam looking for. Picked up the blu-ray player last nite, havn't had time to mess with it yet.

I just got my new Panasonic TH-50PX50U on Sunday. The high def channels from Direct TV with my HR10-250 TiVo over component video look absolutely amazing. Kind of like looking through a window amazing. But the standard def channels look absolutely horrible!

            Plasma Burn-in solution or not?
            by Mitchell
I just came back from looking at tvs at J&R Music in NYC. I was looking for at the Sharp 37 and 42" LCD which are pricey and the salesman suggested looking at plasmas. He said that the Plasma Burn-in issue was largely solved using tech. nology that rotated pixels, put grey bars on the sides...

            New digital coax burn in
            by NHT
Hello all. I just got the Harmonic Technology cyberlink platinum digital coax for my Denon 2900 and my first impressions of it is its a little thin. Do digital coaxials need a burn in time? I swapped out a $35 Straightwire digital coax and found the HT to be a less than desirable sound. It sounds as...
