Wow, talk about resurrecting a thread. . .

We made a change to his speakers, we "removed" the 15 degree angle out of the baffle on his Nat Ps and the speakers are noticeably better. It's almost removing a blanket from over the speakers noticeable.

He gained about an octive on the low end and the speakers are extremely quick and accurate. Took out all the "mush" from the bottom end. I even think the upper end benfited slightly as well.

Plus we found his first CD that sounds noticeably better than the LP (Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill). So he was excited that we nailed down completely that it's all in engineering/post production that you get your quality no matter what the source (Vinyl, CD, MP3, etc).

Then I also blew his mind with an MP3 -> CDA that sounded amazing on his system. It was Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Live in Las Vegas. The album is very amazingly recorded and the guitar work just JUMPS out of the speakers, it caught Bill off guard a few times. Then at the end I told him it was a compressed source from an MP3 -- Didn't have the actual CDs with me at the time.

And we also figured the we need Jon Marsh to finish the Ardents so we can get them built...course we might just wait for the Cxi's if they are going to be better...but we are both wanting to build new speakers for ourselves. Nothing like 2 pairs of Ardents being built at the same time! :T

So it was a revelation on what his system is and everything that goes into all the music that we all enjoy listening. Plus there was some pretty good Cheesesteaks and Wings and Beer and Wine! ha ha

Had a quiet evening at home, Made my favorite veal scaloppini with shallots & mushroom white wine sauce. The wife & I shared a V nice bottle of sauvignon blanc, & then I put a few black Frisbees on the old TT with a bit of nicely aged British porto.

I will update later on the significant effect changing the speaker positioning has made.

George, I think I may have to root for the 'Leafs' tonight during the Olympic hockey showdown! Your hometown 'boy' has been good to us here in the 'Burgh', we are doing our best to take good care of him!

Yeah, Sidney scored last night but there was no stopping that USA team. Some fantastic goaltending made things tough for Sid and the other Canadian boys. But the USA deserved the win. They were fantastic.

The USA team had nothing to be ashamed of. They played brilliantly, especially the goaltending. It was anyone's game.

Sid has definitely positioned himself well as the greatest hockey player of all time. If he keeps this up... woooooooo boy.

I'm sad the US couldn't get the gold, but extremely happy it was Sid that was the reason we lost. Sid came out and proved he's the best in the game right now.

And probably one of the fastest, too. The refs just let them play. It reminded me of the barn-burner type of hockey I used to watch when there were only 6 teams in the NHL: Montreal Canadians, Toronto Maple Leafs, NY Rangers, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Redwings. Now that was hockey. Plenty of hits, but always clean and never any head shots. Gordie Howe was Mr. Elbows and many an opposing player came out of a scrum on the boards with bruised ribs and a new found respect for Mr. Howe.
