Some kick ass systems on this board. I would like to say hello to Jimmy in WI. I talked with you a few days ago, very nice guy and knows his stuff, and you got to like a fellow Packer Fan Still have contacts in the business which is a good thing!

Well use to work for a High End Dealer for fun for about 6 years partime to help pay for the toys. Now married and 2 kids later still a Audio/HT Computer geek. I have installed a couple of dozen systems in my time over the 100K mark which if done correctly you could sure cut down on costs. Room acoustics play a key role and if your starting from scratch you best bet is correct room treatments and then right speakers.

In the Medical business now and on the road a lot but I have a dedicated HT system that I built with a existing room. Been a AVS member for sometime but the really cool site is HTOC forum which is much like this place, very full of knowledgable people. Still do some installs on the side for people and still aways upgrading and or doing something HT related daily. Love movies and music...

    Current HT System:
    Dynaudio Contour S3.4s
    Dynaudio SC Center Channel
    Dynaudio LR120 Rears.
Harmon Kardon 525 Receiver acting as Pre/Pro - Sold my Anthem, oh well!
    B&K 4430 Amp 3 X 200
    Chiro Amp 2 X 140
    Denon 5910 DVD Player
    Sony HS51 Projector
Apple iMac G5 used as a Music Server, using iTunes. and Apple Lossless
    Musical Fidelity Int. 308 Amp
    Sony SACD SC1 Player

    Office system:
Musical Fidelity X150 and matching CD Player.
    Living Room system also

Ex - High School and College Hockey Player and Pittsburg Penguins fan because of Bob Johnson of course Big 2 channel audio guy and Soccer fan and Biking, road and mountain. Use to play Soccer aka "Football" to keep in shape for Hockey..

PewterTA: What home infusion company? I sell IVIG product.... Now that is ironic..

Future Upgrades: New Plasma display and looking to upgrade my speakers to the Dynaudio Confidence line. $$$ Yikes.... New Pre/Pro Arcam or Anthem etc... Would love Meridian..

Anyone interested I am upgrading my Dynaudios and the ones above I am selling.

Hi.... my name is audioqueso, and I'm an alcoh.. oops, wrong meeting. lol

I'm 25, from NYC, to DC, to Tokyo, to Tampa, and now Miiiiiaaaaaaammmii!!

I think it all started with me when I was 16 years old. My mother bought me a kick ass pair of Pioneer speakers, and I loved them. I jerry-rigged my little stereo so that I can have the audio from tv so that I could have a full range sound with movies and tv. So... lol... yeah, that's when it all started.

I'm a system engineer here in Miami. I had a full 5.1 system, but got rid of all that to start upgrading to bigger and better.

I enjoy listening to music all the time. I just had a kid 3 months ago who since birth has been exposed to audiophile toys... such a spoiled life. So that's where a lot of my time goes into now. I love to workout. Play pool. Don't know what else. I other hobby is cars. I don't have a fast car anymore, but I'm back in the market for one, so then I can throw my money into that... lol

I'm a 47 yr old of cuban parents in sunny miami,fl.I'm a Homicide Det. for MDPD and have been working in this burea for over 13yrs.My biggest Hobbie of course is HT/Music with motorcycle cruising a close second.Unfortunatly i dont always have the time because of the job.I have 3 grown daughters and a wife so im outnumbered so whenever i do any type of upgrades it has to be dissecretly.Recently my eldest daughter became a Miami Dolphin cheerleader for this coming season and fortunatly for me since i'm a big fan(since the 70's) i have season tickets for free. For the first time i can go to all the home games without feeling it in my pocket.

Damn Rick..how come none of the girls I'm related to can't be a toronto maple leaf's cheerleader?! Season tickets would be sweet.
Interesting career choice, also. I bet you have some pretty weird stories.
My condolences (heh) on the Estrogen heavy family load though, my friend.
          Makes upgrading a little tough
          cheers,

Hey Rick, if you see Ricky Williams will you PLEASE arrest him for impersonating a pro football player? Sheesh, it's embarrassing to admit he came out of UT. : My brother-in-law was a policeman for a decade or so and has moved into a position as an inspector for the Texas AG. All you guys (and gals) stay safe!

That's pretty cool about your daughter and the Dolphins - congratulate her for me. My little girl (yeah, right) is 18, starting college and spent mucho time in jr. high and high school as a cheerleader and drill teamer. It's pretty impressive to see all the time, effort, practice and heart they put into things like that, especially for you baby to have gone that far.

I know you and 'queso have been around a while, but welcome anyway. :welcome:

                Hello all,

I’m 47, married, 2 kids and live in the country. I’ve lurked around here a bit the past few months.

I got into car and home audio in the seventies, built a Hafler DH-500 amp and their pre-amp from kits in the 80’s, had a pair of Klipsch K-horns and sold them when we had kids -- wish I had kept them but… priorities.

I kinda stopped listening (closely) to music when we started raising kids and cashed out of my good gear. Then home theater happened and I started getting back into it. I currently have a couple Sony A/V receivers, a Denon AVR-5600 and Mirage 1090i’s and center. I use a couple different subs from JVC and Mirage. I’m a packrat. I don’t run any high-end gear anymore but I’m happy with the performance of the things I have

Five years ago I built a Backyard Theater and that’s the most fun I’ve had with A/V projects. If anyone has questions along those lines, I’d be happy to help where I can. I run a little website about it. This spring I mounted two Buttkicker LFE shakers under our deck – which is a real hoot.

I used to be a specs geek and always wanted and knew the latest gear but I really don’t follow that closely anymore.

This is a nice forum. I don’t get in here as much as I’d like but it’s a good resource and friendly place.

                Regards,

                Randy

I'll give it a go now too.

I'm a 23 year old Accounting and Finance major at Texas A&M University, originally from Dallas and hope to return. The idea is to start in public accounting and then get out as soon as a reasonable opportunity pops up. I couldn't handle that stress/lifestyle over an entire career.

Like several others on the boards, I'm a Christian, saved at an early age. I'll try not to be too pushy because I've still got plenty wrong with me. Call it a Work in Progress.

I got into HT/Audio in junior high when I dug my dad's old Technics equipment out of a closet. Man, that snowballed fast. I'm hoping to head off the upgrade-itis early and settle into the simple life. Not sure how that's going to work out though.

When I'm not in class, on the message boards, or studying, I of course love music and movies. I think my roommates get mad because I kick them out of the living room, so I can watch my Led Zeppelin concert dvd at unreasonable volumes. I also enjoy a good book every now and then, usually the classics, which I typically read right when a semester ends.

In the last year, I've also started racing in Sprint distance triathlons, though it's hard to train effectively around class and studying.... Ok, who am I kidding? I don't study all that much, and I don't have class three mornings a week. It's still enough to keep me relatively healthy though.

My main obsession, however, is Texas A&M Aggie Football. We're having just about the most disappointing year imaginable down here, but there's always next year, right?

I'm also a Dallas Stars fan. Here's hoping the Cup comes back to Texas where it belongs. (Cue angry hockey purists )

I'm a 35 year old accountant/finance person. Currently working at a charity and also doing some investment, debt consolidation, and teaching on the side. I'm a bit biased, but I think I live in one of the best cities in the world. :T That's Vancouver, BC!

My passion for home theater started a long time ago. I recall seeing Top Gun on laserdisc in a showroom and was just amazed at the clarity and the sound.

I couldn't afford anything at the time, but as luck would have it, my Aunt needed to buy some gear for her new apartment. So we proceeded to put together a nice little system. 27" Mitsubishi TV, Sony ES receiver, a pair of Energy speakers, Hi-Fi VCR and a Karoke Laserdisc player. Although this wasn't mine to begin with, about 3 years later when my Aunt moved, I bought all this gear off her. Got a great deal and some great equipment.

Move along to after I passed my final accounting course! When I got my marks, that weekend my wife and I went shopping! I wasn't planning on buying anything, this was early 1999. I had been aware of DVD and was seeing some price drops from $1,000 units. Well seeing as I was feeling good, I bought my Toshiba 3109, Yamaha 595, Energy speakers and sub to complete my HT! I started off with about 4 movies and what a blast! I recall the first time I heard the slam of the door from behind my right ear! I played that scene about 5 times!

From that point forward, it was HT all the way. My DVD collection now spans about 350 titles, I've lost count. In fact I'm on a bit of a spending freeze as I want to see how this HD and BluRay thing works out.

I've been with my wife since 93 married in 98 and married in the Church in 2005!

Other hobbies of mine includes cycling, but not recently, and also quite a lot of ballroom dancing. It's cool how it has become wildly popular these days.

Scriffer: Good luck on your degree. Do you have the option to get your CPA through working at a private company? That is bascially how I've obtained my CGA designation. Our program also has a public practice route, but I know that is not where I wanted to focus. You can PM me and we can chat all about the accounting profession and the differences between the two countries.

                      From South Africa

                      Hi,

My name is Simon and I am from Durban, South Africa. I have yet to see any other South African on this forum, but am sure there must be some around.

I have just turned 42. I am a high school teacher, which is not good for a love for home theatre as the pay is really not great! I love what I do and thank God for His goodness to me. Prior to teaching I worked in Sales and marketing for Unilever, but lacked job satisfaction. I did not want to be tied down to a job that I did not like for the rest of my life, where I lived for Friday's and was depressed on Sunday afternoon.

I grew up on a farm where there was not much to do. Also we did not have electricity during the day, but only at night when the generator ran. When we had power, we had music, so from a young age I was used to music, and as I grew up that love continued. When I started working I started to buy my 2 channel system and bought a Pioneer CD player, a great Rotel 2 channel amp and some Morduant Short speakers. A few years later I upgraded my speakers with an awesome set of Linn Helix speakers which are still going strong.

Home Theatre started about 4 or so years ago when I took the plunge and bought my Denon 1602 wich is soon to be replaced with a Rotel RSX 1056. I dream often about a great system like many folks on this froum have. I do hope that my upgrade exceeds my expectations as this system will have to last many years to come.

I became a Christian in high school years, and continue to walk with God, even though there are times my commitment is not what it should be. I enjoy my computer and love travel and have had the opportunity to take 6 overseas school tours. 5 have been cultural and one has been for sport. Three have been to the US ( 2 East Coast and 1 West Coast) - and I do love the States (Durban is very similar in climate and feel to San Diego). I have done two tours to Europe. The responsibility for taking kids overseas is great, but this is my only way I can hope to travel.

I look forward to my time on this forum, and thank you all for taking an interest in me by reading this.

I'm 14(something tells me I'm the youngest here) and got into HT around 1.5 years ago and so far have cleared out a spare junk room, converted it to HT, bought a 27 inch TV, built a sub, built mains, built center, and bought KEF 120 surrounds, bought a projector, and replaced room lighting. Unfortunately my teachers have a knack of keeping me busy, so I can only watch movies on the weekends.

Charles, we have had other South Africans on board, and do.

Keith, you've gotten an early start, and that's just awesome. It will be fun for you to blow your friends away with HT.

Paul Wu, seems like I've heard that name before.

                          Scriffer, go aggies!

Guys, even though we don't respond to each of your posts, I do find it interesting reading about everyone.

                            Hmm, where to start.

I'm Kyle! I was born in NJ, grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and went to college at the Rochester Institute in Technology. I kicked around Rochester for a few years working in the aviation industry, before moving to NYC a while after 9/11 (it killed the aviation industry to say the least).

I spent the past two years living and working in the city as the lead systems administrator for a very fast growing company. I'm still working there, but am now living across the river in Jersey City.

I'm not an astronaut like Jerry, but I am one of the few, the proud, the Eagle Scouts. In my spare time I am an avid Paintball player, and run one of the largest forums on the internet. We're currently the 16th largest forum on the net, and are growing faster than I can keep on top of. To put it into perspective, where this wonderful site has about 7,000 members and 225,000 posts, my site has about 220,000 members, and we're about to hit 18,000,000 posts

I got my first taste of HiFi with my fathers refridgerator sized Tannoy speakers, and got hooked. I went through various entry-level receivers and speakers before settling into the Rotel/B&W niche. I got my first HD set and an upscaling DVD player about a week ago and am enjoying myself greatly!

I'll try to keep this from being too boring. I love the automotive component Lex brings! My first real (eg-running) car was a '69 Dodge Charger R/T S/E with the 440 Magnum.I'll be happy to answer any questions about peformance mods, but I don't want to use this post as a trip down memory lane! That was right after I discovered motorcycles (my main profession).I bought the Charger w/the proceeds from a bike wreck (station wagon ran a red lightPOWGEETHISSUCKS etc...). I then discovered real audio. Lotta Tandberg,Nakamichi,ADS followed. Then marraige/divorce (almost that close together) and it took me 20 years to return. I'm baaaaaaack!
I'm still amazed how much music I can get for (relatively) little money now. My wife of 13 years is tone deaf, making her tolerance of my addiction even more amazing. She understands bikes a lot more (my other habit).
My electronic toys are as follows:
                                Mitsubishi WS48515 tv(integrated hi-def tuner,48")

Onkyo HT-S787C (crappy but makes the Imperial Cruisers sound cool)High point of that is 230 watt,10" sub-also 7.1 format lets me annoy the family AND neighbors when anything decent is on Sci-Fi channel.Or football.Go Steelers!!!

                                2 channel:

no problem. FYI, the colon and letters make our funny faces, so when you talk with colons grouped with letters, most anything can happen.

                                            Howdy,
I just turned 30 last fall I have one child a daughter who just turned 5. I have been into movies my whole life at least as far back as I can remember. So it was natural as HT gear became availible I had to get some. I was lucky enough to have a older brother who made more money and had the same hobbies so I got some good deals as he upgraded. I still have a LD player in my system and about 40 movies for it.All of which are DTS titles which is why I still have the player.
I work in a factory as a "Process Technician" which sounds cooler than it is. I think it is a injection molding term anyway. I do routine maintenance, build new lines, program coil winding machines, controllers and troubleshoot our equipment. We make transmission coils for GM mainly.
For music I like stuff from Kid Rock and Metallica to The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd and many others.
Wanting new tower speakers led me to DIY and here. I used the "I am going to need the tools for fixing up the house" line to get most of the tools I needed for speaker building.
Oh yeah, I also have a 03 HD Fatboy which is my 3rd HD. I drive a 94' Rodeo I really needed a new vehichle but I got the bike instead. You have to have priorities right?
                                            That's pretty much it.

If thats not a coincidence - I am in the ealy stages of building a set of towers speakers courtesy of the DIY boys. You will find them very helpfull just don't ask too many silly questions, thats my job.

Once you have a HT, the question becomes "Why go to the movie theater?"

The visual and audio experience at home far surpasses the latest movie theater, and I have an old system. Plus I don't have to dig out the credit card to pay for parking, admission and what passes as food. :B

                                                      Hello,
I am very new to this forum (less than a week) and I absolutely love it! Not normally a real "forum guy," but everyone here is so helpful and friendly!

I'm 40, live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and work for a major aircraft engine manufacturer. I sell engines and services to the USAF for most of their fighters, as well as to foreign militaries. I have a fantastic wife of 18 years and 3 great daughters (12, 10, and 8).

I am a relative newbie, but a HT junkie nonetheless. I am preparing to turn 1/2 of my basement (a 24'x14' room) into a dedicated HT. Over the next several months, I will be respectfully asking for your help in the design and gear for this project.

                                                      Looking forward to it!!!

I agree. With my current home theater, I can only think of ONE reason to go see a movie in the theater--that it's not out on DVD yet and I can't wait. That's the ONLY reason I ever go see a movie anymore, which is about once a year.

Chris, that's cool! I fly the C-17 for the USAF. Now if your wife is 18 years old, she started young on those daughters! (just kidding, I'm being a smarta$$)

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Yeah, when you have a good home theater with a big screen, it's really hard to get up and go to the local cinema. I went twice last year. They won't get rich off me.

Maybe the cineplex owners will have to find someone else to buy their popcorn, but the studios will still get their cut of your entertainment dollars when you buy their DVDs.

                                                                Hi all,

Well, I've been hanging around here for a few months now, and while I'm not a very frequent poster, I thought I'd do the honourable thing and introduce myself.

My name is Vincent and I'm an Irishman. I'm from Dublin, but I have been living in a town called Maynooth in County Kildare for the past seven years now. Maynooth is about 20 miles from the city cente, so it more of suburb of the city nowadays.

I'm 34 and married with no kids. Yet

I am an IT Professional and run my own business - specialising in Data Centre design, from construction to equipment installation to application hosting. I also dabble in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

I am a geek, and proud of it. My Father, lord rest him, was there in the beginning. My geek hero! He was an Electonics Engineer and spent the sixties working in England (no jobs in Ireland for Electronics Engineers back then).

Two of the most interesting projects he worked on was the design of missile guidance systems for the British Government with GE and in-flight and ground controls for Concorde with Potez Aeronautique.

This is where I get my undying passion for electronics and all things technical. by the age of 10 I could build my own Transistor Radios, from scratch - including PCB and custom circuit design and assembly!

But then, roughly aged 10 or 11, I found (it wasn't lost!) my older sister Paula's (Lord rest her, also) record collection, much to her chagrin! Until then, music was just something to leap arround to as a kid.

I remeber aged 4, getting a present of my first ever 45 - 'Nellie the Elephant'!

Anyhow, back to my sister's collection. I found a single called 'Life On Mars' by a guy called David Bowie. I was curious, was it about outer space? The Space Shuttle was a really interesting thing for a 10 year old back then....
But it was not. I got it. I connected to the music. It hit me like 'The Force' (the Star Wars kind!). My blood rushed and I was hooked on it. I played it again and again that day. I found other David Bowie singles and then I found the 'Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardus & the Spiders from Mars'. Talk about being blown away, That's why I love albums. As we all know around here, they're not always just a random selection of songs. There's a connect. I loved when I found that. So, at an early age I was introduced to cool music. The 80' thing eluded me, I was a 60's and 70's rock child. The other band that blew me away back then was Led Zeppelin, and to this day remain my favourite band. I did spend the 90's catching up with 80's music tho'.

At the age of 18 or so, my record player, a mono turntable, died. I was devastated. I had a tape deck and could still play tapes but no records. So, I withdrew a wad of cash from my (life) savings and went to a HiFi store. I bought all NAD equipment - amp, turntable, tape deck and even a CD player. I also got a pair of floorstanding Missions. And that was that. My first adventure in Hi-fi. Interestingly enough, of all things DIY that I do, I've never been into HiFi DIY! Maybe someday...

Anyhow. Shortly after that I started college and eventually entered the workforce.

I've been slogging away for the past 13 years or so. I've built up a nice lifestyle for myself, but I continue to work hard to support it.
Ireland has gone through an economic and cultural revolution over the past 15 years and there are amazing opportunities to be had. We have literally zero unemployment. If you want a job, even in your area of expertise, you'll find one. We still enjoy a very high quality of life, clean air, water, high quality fresh produce but it is fair that our infrastructure is playing catch-up with the rest of the western world.

Back to the world of HT and entertainment. I am pretty much a two channel music kind of guy. My HT setup is located in my family(working on it!) room and it's where, well I suppose, we live. I have a Philips TV, Rotel RSX1056 receiver, B&W 703 Speakers with HTM7 and DS7 surrounds. I also have the B&W ASW750 sub and a Marantz DV8400 UDP. All cables and interconnects are Nordost Red Dawn and I use Van Den Hul Digicouplers and one Optocoupler for digital source connectivity. I love movies and try to watch at least 3/4 movies a week, either on DVD or digital satellite.
I'm not closed off to any specific genre, however I prefer to be drawn away from reality with my movies rather than presented with the sh*tty state the world seems to be in. Hence, my propensity to watch really, really dodgy sci-fi and cowboy movies. I'm a poor critic with movies - drives my wife nuts as she is the opposite! I'm also quite the gamer, mostly PC games but a few of my buddies got the XBox 360, and well, I did too..... It's quite good!

My passion, as I touched on earlier is 2 channel audio. I have a listening room for my CD/Vinyl collection and am currently shopping for a new amp to match my speakers. I own pair of Kharma Exquisite Midi speakers and well, they are the most incredible piece of Hi-fi I have ever heard let alone owned. I was working in the Netherlands about 18 months ago, and the owner of the Company was also a Hi-fi buff. He introduced me to Kharma and brought me to the factory to audition his new speakers. He was upgrading to Kharma Exquisite 1a from the Midis. I bought his Midis - they were nine months old. He even gave, yes gave me his Kharma Enigma Cables. Needless to say, I did a great job for him. I discounted the overall cost of the job for the speakers and absorbed some of capital expenditure. In the end they cost me about €17k. And I still made a small profit.

Anyhow, I could go on here ad infinitum about my two channel setup, so I'll finish up and save it for another day. I feel like I have found the finest forum on the web here. I hang around a couple of the audio forums and to be honest, they can be a bit of a pain. Full of pi**ing contests.

I hope to post plenty and get involved with all forums. I hope I don't bore anyone to death when I try to champion an album, artist or piece of music or talk about a movie, book, car(I love them too, Lex), wine or anything else for that matter!

So I'll finish up for now with an Irish blessing.

                                                                Slán agus beannacht leat.
                                                                (Goodbye and blessings with you)

This is a very interesting site. Being a Rotel owner I`ve found Club Rotel very usefull. My Rotel HT is my first HT after a stereo system, partly Rotel , RB 970 and tuner and Marantz CD 63SE.

I`ve been into HiFi since schooldays and liked it to browse the hifi retailers those days and collecting brosures. These were studied in detail.

My HR romm is 4.5* 4.5 meters and the ceiling is 3.6m heigh.
The room has a carpeted wooden floor. But here is the problem.
The bass can become boomy at times, but what helped was that I isoated the main floorstanders from the floor with spiked granite slabs.

Recently I changed my stereo speaker cables from Surpa Ronda 4*2.5mm to Audioquest Crystal. The bass is now more controlled and and less floppy, and the mid trebles are sharper. That was to be expected, since I experience brightness with Type 4 years back.

I shall post a pic of my system soon.
"Do not critisice the Farmers with your mouth full of food"

I am newly registered, let me tell you some about me:

I was born and raised in Holland and live in Canada since 1971. I am married and we have 4 children, one left at home.
My wife and I enjoy playing golf and I have (digital) photography as a hobby as well.
We enjoy watching a good movie, but it is more a pastime for us - I would not call it a full-blown hobby (yet! :B ).
We have had a HT set up in our TV room since years, but we recently decided to dedicate part of our basement for a more serious HT arrangement (based on a Panasonic PT-AE900U projector). We are right into construction at this time. I look forward to get to know many of you better and I am sure that I will learn a lot about HT through this board. Where possible, I will be happy to help out those for whom I believe I can add some thoughts in their issues.
                                                                    Thanks!

Well, I,ve been a member for about four months and just finished my first set of Dayton RS center channel mains.I'm in the process of building my third,Umm center channel.I thought it would be kinda cool to have three identical LCR's and all horizontal.I'll post some pics in that thread when all three are up and running.

I love movies and that must be the root of my passion. From my son who is seven to his 94 year old grandmother, everyone seems to really enjoy my room. She really liked "The last waltz" and Joan Osborn singing "Heatwave" in "Standing in the shaddows of motown.

After building my subs, my old mains could not keep up.I thought that a DIY would be in order due to the Subsuccess . I was refered to HTG and the rest is history.

My family enjoys living in the country and believe it or not I'm ready to start mowing some grass.Cabin fever is at a high.

Hi there. I joined the forum on 15 April 2006 after looking for information on toe-in for my B&W 703 loudspeakers and was really surprised to find a forum that has a special section for B&W loudspeakers and where participants use decent language and threads don't end up becoming totally useless. I registered and within minutes was given a solution to the toe-in question.

About myself: 43, married for 16 years, 2 kids and have my own business as web developer. Biggest client is an environmental and engineering firm in Norway. The best thing about my business is that my "office" is tucked away in a recess of the room in which my hi-fi is kept. My turntable spins for many hours each day and I can easily play through 10 or more LPs before the wife and kids are home. Previously in IT for 17 years and got out of the rat race because I am not a rat. Qualified minister and spent a few years in the ministry. I am the organiser for South Africa's annual Sound and Vision Expo.

Our house, in Pretoria, South Africa (Hi! to the other South Africans on the forum.) is a concoction of music and video. Each of the three bedrooms has a TV; the daughter has a hi-fi as well; hi-fi in the sitting room is on permanently and the HT and audio system upstairs is hardly ever switched off. Satellite TV cables everywhere and a cabling nightmare! My parents lived through the rock and roll era of the fifties and sixties and I grew up on a diet of Elvis, Beatles, CCR, Buddy Holly and so on. Musical tastes is literally from Abba to Zappa with gospel, classical, bluegrass, Pink Floyd, female vocal, right through to Richard Thompson's version of "Oops, I did it again" (MFSL 1/2 speed master, 45rpm) which my teenage daughter just shakes her head at.

DVDs and CDs are all over the house but LPs are only upstairs. Previous HT system was based around Pioneer DVD / Yamaha amplification / Mission loudspeakers. Turntables: Rega P7, prior to this Rega Planar 3 and an LP12, I also have an Ariston RD80. Current amp is a Valve Audio Predator 200w tube amp, specifically to help the B&W 703 that has a lot of brightness. HT to be rebuilt around current system so that I eventually have a full HT system as well as stereo system that can act together or independently. Will not move away from valves easily. Heard a five channel valve power amp by Valve Audio and was blown away.

I like breaking away into the bushes without any music and video whatsoever. When we go south to visit the big blue pond I take along my power kite and fly it until I cannot hold on any longer.

                                                                            Comment

I love the way this site is ran and the respect for ones opinion that is demanded from the moderaters. Great job fellas. I look forward everyday to read new comments on audio & video especially audio which is my first love. Its said when you retire you should do what you love the most no matter what it pays if nothing at all such as a musician working in a studio. I know what I will be doing.

I'm more into car audio then HT but I'm making them both a top priority. I've been a member of caraudio.com/vb for 2 years now and I've been a member of soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum for a little while as well. The reason I started getting into HT was b/c of caraudio so it's my starting point. I'm really into DIY with car audio stuff but not so much with HT I'd just rather have some nice speaks from reputable companies and be done with it.

                                                                                      My systems:
