Well, I'm slaving over a hot stove cooking dinner for myself and my daughter, but I certainly want to wish all of you guys and gals out there in cyber land the best for the Holidays, and for the coming year.

        Regards,

        Jon

          Thanks guys. Likewise.

Went out today, last minute gadget grabbing, a few delicates for my daughter, came home and went to work installing this confound HP printer in my 2000 Professional setup. I encountered problems, which I won't get into now, except to say that I wound up with the printer driver only installed to get the printer and computer operational.

With the special printer interface software that was for 2000, the system processor was dragged down with unreal processing instructions from something without the printer software even engaged. Only after getting all that back off through a little trickery after only making matters worse deciding to try the 98 driver, lol.

Anyway, lesson learned. At least I am printing now!

Now, to those last few presents to wrap,,,

          Merry Christmas guys,
          Lex

Santa gave me some PC Fairy dust, so things went pretty smoothly yesterday finishing the asembly, first boot, OS install, etc., of my new HDTPC. Even played some Baldurs Gate 2 last night, and watched a couple of movies. Lot's of debris left over to clean up from, though!

Congrats Smiley on your new Denon receiver- I'm sure you're going to enjoy that a lot in the coming months.

Well, Lex, you know what us hardcore HTPC guys say- "Just say No to NT and 2000"- drivers are such a hassle for them- glad you got your printer working eventually, but it JUST SHOULDN'T BE THAT HARD! Heck, I can print to my HP Inkjet's easier under BeOS than under my NT system! And let's not even talk about things like Dolby Digtial output support, which STILL isn't working with SP2 for 2000.
Microsoft needs something fully 32 bit with better multitasking and multithreaded behavior- it's a joke how more responsive any of my athlon systems are with BeOS than anything from Redmond.

                  Happy Holidays, all.

                  -Jon
