    Sunfire Theatre Grand III ?

OK...call me dizzy, but maybe I've changed my mind (again)
I've got the Rotel RB-1075 amp on it's way to me now. I plan on getting another Rotel 2 channel amp later on. (probably the 991 or 1080) So I'm trying to decide on a processor to go with these amps. At first I thought I'd simply go with all Rotel, and get the 1066 - but...

The Sunfire Theater Grand III sure looks like a sweet unit. Anybody here know anything about this unit? How does the 1066 hold up to a unit like this? (Yes, I know it's more money!)

I just feel like I should get the best possible rig now while I'm upgrading, because I don't want to upgrade again for a LONG time! (My budget isn't limitless, but I might be able to work out the cost of the Sunfire)

Thank you everybody (especially for your patience!)

    -Craig

What I would look at first and formost is support and long term upgradability. I think Rotel is probably way out in front on that count. Just the shere number of users, says something of the support structure that must exist to support a product. I don't know anyone with the Theater Grande III, II, or I personally.

It may be a great processor. But were it me, before I spent big bucks on that, I'd get a Lexicon.

What features do you need? I've always been attracted to the 3 component outs in the TGIII.

To my knowledge, the Sunfire pre/pros have been upgradeable (via trade-in or upgrade) to the next version but not beyond that (I to II and II to III but not I to III). My point being that I don't think the Sunfire is any more or less upgradeable than the 1066. Both offer software upgrades and that's about it.

You should also look at the Anthem AVM-20, B&K Reference 50, and the forthcoming Rotel 1098 if you're considering entering the price range of the TGIII.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I think I've decided to stick with the Rotel 1066. I couldn't convince myself to spend that much.
