Got my Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper and...

... first thing I did was season the pan as directed. To do this you coat the inside of the pan lightly with vegetable oil, then heat it up , remove and let cool. Now I was ready for a bag of pre-mixed Home Theater Style popcorn from Wabash Valley Farms. I threw the contents of the packet in the pot, put the electric stove on medium high and started cranking the handle. Many pops and much pleasant aroma later, I empty the pot into two bowls. It makes 6 quarts ( about two microwave bags of PC ) and wifey and I settled down to a movie and started munching.

Wow. I haven't tasted theater style popcorn like this in ages. Everything popped up nice and crunchy. There was maybe six or seven unpopped kernels. Wife and I gobbled everything down. Now this is really something, because usually the most we can handle is a bag of microwave between us, so this really says something about this Popper and the pre-packaged popcorn.

    Now, is popcorn fattening..... ?

Sounds great! I've heard great things about the Whirley Pop, maybe I should pick one up.

The popcorn is just starch, all the fat is in the oil and butter and other crud that is added to make the popcorn taste so good.

We used to make hot air popcorn which is the healthiest popcorn since no oil is involved, but it's so dry and drab, even when salted. We ended up going back to the light natural flavored microwave popcorn--neither of us are buttered popcorn fans.

Hey, Kevin, if you like the taste of theater style popcorn, then I would heartily recommend the Whirley Pop.

As to the fattening elements, well maybe I better restrict myself to one bowl. Awww shucks :boohoo:

You're dead right. Mr. Pratt. I could never go back to microwave popcorn after the Whirley Popper stuff.

That's a good deal for that good of popcorn George. Lot's betta deal than what E and I were lookin' at. Not sure if he ever bought one of those others or not. Of course that other one was a piece of furniture as well.....served 2 purposes so to speak.

If popcorn is starch then doesn't that mean it's heavy in carbs? If so then it ain't gonna be good for any diet. As for me, I ain't watching my weight so I could care less. We have the microwave popcorn at least once a week, quite often twice.

I think I'll have to order me up one of those poppers though, especially if it's that good.

                      Thanks for the tip!

Amazon has this popper for $19.95

                        Not sure on shipping though.

Actually, they have the gift set for 4 cents more and you get 4 bags of popcorn.

Go for the gift set, Sonnie. I had to pay $62 CDN for my popper gift set. And once you taste their packaged stuff, you won't go back to microwave.

I think I am George. It will be a good and inexpensive gift for the family at Christmas.

That is if they can get it here by then. If not, then it may be an after Christmas gift.

Yeah, I did it too Sonnie. With the popcorn hounds I have in the house, this'll be a good "Santa" present.

                              Thanks gang! :T

I just ordered 7 of the gift sets for Christmas presents. It's often difficult to figure out what to get people nowadays. This is an easy solution.

                                  Great idea, Sonnie.

Say, Lex, Whirley Pop should be a sponsor here with all the business they are getting.
