HT Gallery?

Would there be any interest in starting a gallery on the guide to showcase some of the systems we've put together? I wouldn't want it to be a "mine is bigger then yours" type of thing just a place to go to see what others have done? I for one love checking out other peoples setups since there's usually at least one good idea in them that I can apply to my HT.

I have no problem with it, but Mats has to approve this. I appoint Andrew as the man to work this out with Mats. Work out a format, and a plan to get and upload pics, sort of a gallery curator.

My plate is full, I can't handle it myself. Sorry guys.

I'll go along with it if it happens, but I'd have to ask someone to put my pictures up. I have no homepage or scanner and am not interested in going that route.

If I may, I'd make just one suggestion. I have seen elsewhere a forum with a members picture gallery but with the ability to make comments below the post. Reading some of the comments made the gallery a battle ground for mean people. so far, this forum as been a great place to encourage people not discourage them. I hope that whatever format Andrew and Mats will decide on, that they'll keep this in mind; protection, especially for rookies such as myself.

On the other side of the coin, I do believe that adding a Pic. gallery will be another way to encourage new members to join :yeah:

How do i post pictures of my gear in the gallery? I see no directions. I have a Canon G1 digicam and plenty of pictures. Thanks.

A note on the images.... I will compress images from time to time to make sure I don't have to buy a new harddrive once every month
Allready shrunk down some 1.5 MB images to 150KB without any real noticable visual effect...

The Gallery will now accept .bmp images as well, though for a very short moment... The image will be converted to an .jpg image which will shrink the physical file to less than a 10'th of the original size.

Hi Andrew/Mats the images I've posted are somewhat outdated. Will we be able from time to time update our folders as things change or do we have to keep adding?

I really had fun doing this guys much thanks to you both a wonderful, fool-proof gallery. Had these pics about a year now and was afraid to post them anywhere ops:

As soon as you have looged in (via New Image) and you again click on the Images button you will see a Delete/Edit images next to your own archive. If you click that link you will be able to delete images or just simply edit the Image text.

I LOVE those seats!

Going OT here: Bob, they are really comfortable. I mean 10-12 hours worth of movies without discomfort. Okay, that's not counting munchie and potty breaks.

I'd never have gotten anything like them, but my wife's cat, in a momentary lapse of reason, destroyed my couch. Jen felt really bad about it, took me shopping and approved those three chairs.

Thanks Chip! When we designed this house on computer we planned it out where that closet would be our service room (hot water heater, electrical panel, phone junction, etc...with access to the rear of the equipment rack of course.) It's very convenient.

Now what I don't understand is why I didn't take more of this wasted space we have and dedicate an HT room. Duh me!

I think the way you set the gallery up is perfect... very easy to use. If you don't mind my opinion, one thing that would be nice would be to have the ability move the images around in the individual folders if say, someone adds or removes pic's and they aren't in the order you'd want... Just a thought, i love it though. :LOL:

I use Image Expert for manipulation of images on my computer with my Canon G1. If i want, i can just drag an image anywhere i want. Pretty cool software. 8O

The problem is that I really don't have anything else to sort the images on but the upload date... I would love to find a way to do this type of sorting on the images too but it has to be a bulletproof sorting. I can't rely on any manual entered sort number or such... This won't work, simply because people don't read instructions
I'm gonna play around a little but with DHTML to see if one could do a drag and drop sorting thingy and if it will be possible to read the order from the HTML page and store it back to the database... This will take some time though so don't expect anything too fast...

Great gallery Mats and Andrew. I will need to borrow a digital camera and take some pictures to add.

I am surprised to see so many white walls. I thought I would be the only one that has to deal with them.
