Guys, you may notice a few changes. I discovered, partially through discussion with Andrew, that we had a bit to much overlap in the area of pre-processors, and such. I tried to isolate and fix this problem, and make a few enhancements to maybe make the forum layout work better for us.

So, what we have is:
Primetime A/V Covers serious 2 channel audio, and all aspects of home theater and DIY. This doesn't include the more elaborate higher end pieces, and the dedicated theater. All that is covered in a newly modified area called Dedicated Theaters and Specialty Clubs.

Let me know if you have problems with the changes, or sugestions for further enhancements. My ears are always open to make the forum work the best for you folks, the members. That is, what this is all about-

Well, perhaps. But club high end is oriented towards the dedicated theater. It is impossible to have multiple areas without there the possiblity for some overlap. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, as long as it doesn't become a major problem. However, both areas cover so many component options, that will it really be a big issue?

Maybe it is, if it is, I will change it again.

Upon further review...

"Club high end" contains the posts previously in "Club Pre/Pro". No offense to Andrew and his new Rotel (nor to myself and my new Anthem) but I don't consider either of those "high end".

I think a newcomer would expect to find those threads in the "Home Theater" forum. "Club High-end" should be all about Theta, Meridian, and other toys we all dream about.

To me, high end is a relative term though. If you've been using a standard sony or pioneer receiver, then either of those pieces is high end to you!

But that's what this feedback session is for really. I make changes, and then get input from you guys. If I need to remold something, it's not a problem at all....

That's why I thought it might be better just to lump them all into the home theater group for now. If things get really congested in there then consider splitting but unitl then I'd generalize not specialize

You'd think with all this concern about "high end/ dedicated" vs. "budget/shared room" HT and A/V being in their own areas, and the reshuffle-du-jour to prove it, :>) that we had 1,000 posts a day crowding the main topic areas and that it was hard to keep up with the specific subjects of interest as they flew off the screen... :>) I still think to encourage long term participation and overall growth in numbers, a stable presentation on the opening page is more helpful than a continually shifting choice of topic areas. I would think changes should come if a large number of contributers complained that the current line up was confusing or otherwise un-user-friendly, but not every time we see a post or two that are theoretically in the "wrong" area. :>)

Thanks for the title of Expert. I guess my expertise is in helping people spend their money, wisely of course For a few years, I think the nature of my hobby was actually: buying gear cheap so I can try and compare it to what I have, sell it for no loss or even a gain, and move on to the next thing. Now, since I am very happy with the Lexicon/tube preamp combo, I am moving away from the desire to try/compare new things, and more to enjoying the software.

I agree that condensed forums at this time will encourage more interaction and there more posting. It can be cumbersome to click on/watch too many different forums. And please no comments on whether or not things belong in the right forum (for now).

Comments well taken. We have never taken a hard line on moving posts really. Yes, we move a few, but it's the exception rather than the rule.

Hopefully this layout will function for a good while for us. now, pre-processors and amps, of all kinds go in home theater, along with DVD, RPTVs, etc... Only front projection remains seperate, along with spaced out. however, I changed that from dedicated to "Custom". Custom doesn't say the room is strictly a home theater, so it still leaves those topic areas open for others, without them feeling well, "little", like they arent' really supposed to be there or something. Also, the area that was club high end, is now, just what it actually is, forum club posts. At some point, that will either become another club, or just simply fade away.

Burke, and George, I know we have changed some over the course of time. Maybe more than we should have. However, running a forum of this nature is a dynamic process. It's not static. As our member's needs change, so must we. If we don't? We become just another baron forum that didn't meet it's customer's needs, so they went elsewhere.

However, I do understand where you all are coming from. I think I am done making changes at this stage. I don't anticpate further change for now.

Admin was moved to the bottom. We really aren't selling admin, huh?

I think I like the new look. Compact at the top, expanded areas below. I don't plan to make more changes in the forseable future, unless the home theater section gets to congested. But I don't expect that to happen any time soon.
