Do you think that sound engineeers/mixers have bad hearing?

I'm asking because, I am ignorant to the process. And I'm thinking, if he/she are mixing for or at "reference level", they must listen at this level to insure it is correct... don't they???

And if the above is true, their hearing must be shot, Yes? So this maybe why center channel levels vary so from disc to disc.

Not just the center channel, John. I often find different disks have different volume levels. I don't know if this is the mixing emgineers or someone screwing up during the authoring stage. Anyway, you ask a good question and it will be interesting to hear what others have to say on this topic.

How many post/threads have you read were an individual is head over heels because they are "Hearing things that they never heard before!" because of an upgrade to their system?

For me leading the pack would be, "Happy Anniversary, Charlie Brown!". It has such a wide mix of jazz, it seems to fit in no matter what time of day or the activity.

My second most listen to disc would be, "Fourplay-Elixer". Something about this group's sound is very...

          Hey,

I am planning another speaker build for summer. I built the sealed CJD RS150 MTMs (with Seas H1212 tweeters) a couple years ago, and love them. I began doing freelance recording and mixing a year ago and have been using these as my main monitors with great results. I use 4 IB15s...

Mixing Klipsch w/radiating speakers in HT?
          by Kevin Allan
          Hi,

I've noticed several references to the subject of (not) mixing speakers of such different designs, such as Klipsch and B&W for example, in a HT set-up.
I ask because I have a chance to get a pair of RF-7's at almost cost from local dealer (demo's), and would like to use...

          Hi All,

As posted earlier I may be purchasing a fairly new (about a year old) pair of N802's for a good price.

I want to build a HT setup and am looking for a center channel. What are your thoughts about mixing the N802 with the new HTM2D or HTM3S? I know finding a used...
