    Kid-proofing

With a curious and destructive 4-year old in the home, I have been forced to take desperate measures in order to protect my HT components. I've already had the door of my DVD recorder broken among other things. Pictured are modified perforated steel rack-mount security covers and a plexiglas security door with key lock. The holes in the rack-mount flanges just happen to line up with the channels in the Salamander Synergy stand. The bolts are held in place with Synergy drop-in nuts.

Rock on, Glen. I LOVE Salamander Synergy racks. I've got two myself.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Are you sure the lock is pick proof, and the steel heavy enough gauge? I mean, we are talking about 4 year olds here, right?

Bummer about your broken component parts already. I can certainly empathize with your plight. It looks like your headed in the right direction here. lockdown!

5,000 volt invisible fence worked for me :B Aaaww Just kidding.

I have seen so much destruction done to components. Just the other day a customer came in told us that her 4yo ripped out a DVD tray and placed the DVD in the player. I mean when the tray came out wasn't it "OUT" far enough for him? Noooo 8O It's amazing how strong they can be. Thanks mate alot of members here will be reading this one.

oh, I just recall an operation I had to do on my neice's player. My great newphew decided it would play better if he pounded on the top of it while the 5 disc changer was working, lol. DVDs got dislodged, and the platter locked. I was able to dislodge the jammed disc once I opened the player cabinet up.

I just doubt I had as much fun unjamming it as he did jamming it up, lol.

I've also had my 2-channel rack on lockdown for about a month now, thanks to the optional door and lock and it has been working out great. :driver:

My kid is not 4 years old yet, but being serious here, wouldn't it just be easier (and less costly) to teach your kid 'No!' when he gets around that area???

Been there done that with the "NO" thing. The 4-year old is my grandson. I have successfully raised two kids to young adulthood so there's no lack of experience in the discipline area.

So what does that mean? You're CHOOSING not to teach him that he can't touch your toys, but instead do the grandparent thing and just spoil him? lol
