Self Destructing Dvds Are Here

Indie film NOEL, starring Susan Saradon, Robin Williams and Penelope Cruz, is being released on "so called" EZ-D , a dvd that self destructs after 48 hours more or less.

48 hours is plenty of time to rip and burn a copy.

I don't really see the point though. Sure it is handy for "rentals" which you don't have to return, but until they create recyclable DVDs these things are just going to fill up the landfills.

Maybe someone needs to create a self-destructing DVD that becomes a blank DVD-RW after it destructs, then at least you can re-use it, like the old days when AOL mailed out floppy disks.
