McIntosh MC58 - good option for HT Power Amp?

    Hello,

Has anyone out there owned a McIntosh MC58 8 Channel Power Amp and used it as a HT power amp?

I've searched far and wide for some details on this amp but cannot find much information on this model.

    I'm currently running my HT through a Marantz sr5005 (B&W CM7, CMC2 (on the way), CM1, ASW2500 speakers).

Would it be worth getting the MC58 to run a the Pre-outs from the Marantz into it?

I read that you can bridge 3 of the channels to give 100W for Front & Center and run the surrounds at 50W. Would this kind of upgrade be worth it or would it be better to just get an all new receiver?

    Thanks!
