    Need advice on new front speakers for Onkyo receiver

    Hi there

    I currently own an Onkyo TX-SR600E receiver with the following speakers;

    Polk RT5 Bookshelves acting as front speakers (8 ohms, 20 - 125 w/channel, Efficiency 89 dB)
    Polk CSi30 Center
    Polk PSW350 Sub

    The receiver has these specs for output;
    Power Output* (8 ohm, 20 Hz-20 kHz, FTC) -
    Front L/R 80 W/Ch
    Center 80 W
    Surround L/R 80 W/Ch
    Surround Back 80 W
    Power Output* (6 ohm, 1 kHz, FTC) -
    Front L/R 105 W/Ch
    Center 105 W
    Surround L/R 105 W/Ch
    Surround Back 105 W
    Dynamic Power** (front) -
    3 ohm 215 W/Ch
    4 ohm 160 W/Ch
    8 ohm 95 W/Ch

    The sounds is a bit low so I was thinking of sending the RT5s to the surround back l/r and then getting new front speakers.

    The question is how do I size the speakers? What size, power etc?

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Will a RB-1095 amp have any problem driving 4 ohm rear surround speakers in a 7.1 system? I'll use my current RB-1080 for the 4 ohm two front mains and the 1095 for the sides, center and rear surrounds.

    The reason that I'm asking is that the Axiom folks informed me that I should use the...

    RMB-1075 and 4 ohm speakers

    I bought an RSP-1068 and an RMB-1075 in July and I am loving the sound. I am now out investigating my options in speaker upgrades. I heard the Polk LSi 9 bookshelf speaker and I was very impressed. Whenever and whatever I buy I will be getting the matching center and surrounds. The Lsi 9s are definitely...

    Rotel @ 4 ohm
    by janmike
    I am thinking about upgrading my HT system from Polk Audio RTi series to the LSi series. Currently I am driving my RTi's with a Rotel 1080 for the front and a Yamaha RX-V1500 for the rears and centre. The LSi's that I am looking at run at 4 ohm nominal impedance. How does the 1080 run at 4 ohm. ...
