So where are all the fire sales on HD-DVD?

I expected by now to be seeing these big fire sales on HD-DVD, since the war's over. But sales have been modest. I went to Best Buy today, and they have a small rack of HD-DVD, listed at 30% off. Not bad, but when you start at $29.99 for a HD-DVD, with that sale the movie still comes out to be $21.00. Not exactly cheap.

I'm expecting to see HD-DVD's for under $10, since it's a soon-to-be-dead format. Especially on eBay for used discs, but they're still going for $15-30. Unrealistic? Or do we just need to wait a while, for people to realize that the format war's over, and THEN really start selling their stuff?

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I saw some deals at Fry's electronics (sorry you prob don't have those in Alaska!). Although I still think it should have been less, I snagged the American Gangster combo disc for $19.99. They also had several catalog titles at $9.99.

Has anyone else on here ordered any titles form EzyDVD?

Apparently they’ve been doing a roaring trade with both the US and UK. I’ve bought around thirty titles from them during the fire sale.

If you want any of the titles I wouldn’t leave it too long as the list is dwindling!

I bought six HD DVDs at a Canadian Best Buy yesterday for 75$--not necessarily rock bottom, but compared to the prices in there just 3 weeks ago, it represents about 2/3 off. The best deal of the lot was Eastern Promises--7.99$ (compared to 39.99$ just 3 weeks ago).

They export, so you get the GST off the sale price (extra bonus), plus there is no region coding on HD-DVD.

You can pay via Credit Card or PayPal.

I'd never bought from their online store prior to the HD-DVD fire sales, usually bought either from their shops or other retailers, or imported from the US & UK. All the stock was well packed and delivered in good time.

BTW I have no connection with the company; just letting you guys know what’s available and most titles are less than $10AUD each.

Basically, 5$ per item at 5 items (5.50 for each when fewer than 5 items) in AUS dollars. The exchange rate with the US dollar is about 92 cents US per dollar.

So, for example, the cheapest item I saw--Mr. Bean movie--was 6.92AUS$. Take 10% off the price (you don't pay the tax), add 5.50 for shipping and you're at about 11$ for the disc--or just under 10 US.

The five Harry Potters as a set are 50$AUS. A whole bunch are between 7-12$. Depending on the title, it could be worth it, even with shipping. I might get one or two (not to mention a few SD DVDs--I have a region-free PAL/NTSC player).
