hdmi 1.3 reciever on the market?

Anyone has any idea when HDMI 1.3 recievers are going to be available with Dolby Digital Plus/ Dolby Digital HD?

Sherwood R-972 is due out in August at last report, other manufacturers have reported 2nd quarter. However, I would think more the 3rd quarter, before you see an influx of HDMI 1.3 compatible receivers.

Alright, this may be a silly ?, but does HDMI v1.3 require a different type of cable or will my existing HDMI cables work?

same connector uses the same old cable.

Not all HDMI cables are created equal. It would depends what kind of data your are running through your cables such as Blue Ray and HD DVD's (which requires more bandwidth) or just upgraded 1080p visuals. You should check the bandwidth of your cables.
