Help required with connections and things

I am about to get all the parts to my home theatre.
I was wondering when buying speaker stands, what to look for, or are they all the same? Filled or not filled?
Also with hooking up a DVD player through my receiver, do I use digital coax for the audio or RCA? Digital COAX carries both channels of audio in a single plug is that right?
Aslo with component cable does the more cable you use effect the picture at all, I am looking at some 10mtr cable to hook up to a projector?
What are some good video cable names and what do I look for in a cable?
I am in Australia, so will probably look for companies here and good prices.

Yes, you can use the digital coax for your DVDp. It will carry all the full audio signal. I also hook up my analog (RCA) connections to my pre-pro, but only because my DVDp upsamples and I sometimes like experiment with it.

I always like to fill stands with sand or lead if possible. They are not all the same. Some of the cheaper ones are thin metal and sort of flimsy. The nice ones are quite solid and heavy.

Doug (Lex) with CAT Cables can probably hook you up with something or at least point you in the right direction on cables.

As Dyazdani has pointed out that you can scroll down to the CATS Cables Forum and speak with Doug/Lex the owner of this Site and he will be glad to steer you into the right direction.

Tell us, what other components are you gonna use in you HT setup?

Is it a good Idea to make RCA Cables out of RG6 Coax
        by HereticPB
I have just recently found out that you can create RCA Cables out of Cable Coax. I was wondering if it is a good idea to do this or not.

What companies make the best coax and rca connectors? The Best sheilding? What type of Coax? If RG6 Analog Video or Digital video Coax?

        Hello,

What speaker cable are people using with B&W 800D series speakers? Or more to the point what is B&W themselves recommending for use with with their speakers or what are they using for demo's? Would love to know!

I know they use Classe electronics but I...

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question.
Below is what I experienced last night.
I hope I explained the situation well enough.
I thought I would run it by you guys.

I received some new component video cables and went to hook them up.

        by Mary
I am proud to say I am a 1066/1075 and RCL 900 new owner for about 3 weeks now. I have truly enjoyed my new pieces of equipment. My question? I have my digital cable box hooked into Video 1 using both the coax and analog hookups. My dvd is connected to video 2. When I switch to video 2 to use my dvd,...

        Is my RLC 1040 defective?
        by sskim
This question involves connecting cable coax cable. My setup is Pioneer Plasma with cable card and Cablevision is the provider. I have coax cable running to "IN" of RLC1040's "surge protected" coax connector and using a second coax cable to connect the plasma to "OUT"...
