Hi guys, I'm not getting any audio from my HDMI setup. I've got my HDMI dvd player hooked to my external HDTV tuner (accepts HDMI) for my display and then an optical output from the tuner to my receiver which is connected to the speakers. I get video but no audio even when I select the optical input source on the receiver. Any thoughts?

by boeForgive my ignorance but I am ignorant about HDMI vs. optical. On my current preamp/processor, I hook my DVD player audio in through an optical cable and my preamp does the processing for DTS or DD. On future ones would I use HDMI instead? If it had both optical and HDMI would there be any audio...-

by DmantisOk,
From what I have learned over the years is that HDMI has the highest jitter of any Digital transfer. I'm not sure if thats exactly true or not but it's been said by many people in and out of the industry. So lets take that at face value and talk about it.
