I bought mine online, but before I did I went to the local audio specialist in town to make sure I could adjust the EQ according to my tastes. I like to manipulate my EQ so that the mid range is quite low and the bass and highs are high. If the mid-range is high, I would rather not listen to anything at all. I told the person I was concerned b/c from what I read on the internet, the only "Tone Controls" were for bass and treble. He assured me on multiple occasions that I could manipulate multple bands of my EQ, i.e. set the mid-range to low.
So, I went and bought the darn thing and my 1992 Teqniques stereo components that I replaced (receiver and separate EQ) sound so much better than my new $550 rxv1500 that I want to give this person an earful. Of course I can't because I saved $300 by not buying it in his store.
I've been staying up til midnight the last two nights trying to make the sound better, and cannot find a way to lower my mid-range. If I wanted to be limited to "rock concert" or "jazz club" I would have bought a $150 boom box. Please tell me that I can somehow manipulate the EQ on the rxv1500 to set mid-range sounds to low!
If that's not enough, I can't get a picture when set to DVD mode and the subwoofer is severely underperforming. I am now wondering if I can hook my separate 13 year old EQ into the system.
