    DVD Question

I have a Pioneer DVD player. When playing just one particular DVD I have, which has a bright explosion in it, the DVD player freezes on the explosion scene. If I slow motion back prior to the explosion and then hit play, I get by the explosion scene with no problem. This particular DVD plays fine in my other DVD player (a really cheap one).

Every other DVD I have plays fine in the Pioneer except for the one I mentioned. Anyone have any experience with this type of problem? If so, what did you do?

    Appreciate the help.

I've actually encountered a couple perfectly fine DVDs that won't play in my DVD-2900. My Denon also has troubles displaying the AVIA menus at times.

    Just quirks I guess...

Have you tried another copy of the same DVD?

No I haven't. I was tempted to rent the DVD and, if it played ok, switch with Blockbuster. Honesty got the best of me (my wife), so I didn't. I'll borrow it from a friend of mine and see how his plays.

It's irritating that the cheap DVD player, the one I got with a VHS on it so my 9yr. old can watch her tapes, plays the movie just fine. That machine gets beaten up by my kid and just keeps playing and playing and ......

How old is your Pioneer? If it's an older one, perhaps it has a bug in its firmware or MPEG decoder.

Which DVD/which scene is it occurring in?

It's a DV-37, 2 or 3 years old. The DVD is Austin Powers Gold Member. The explosion is in the beginning of the movie during the helicopter chase scene.

            T2 Extreme, HD-DVD
            by Dean McManis
I bought Standing in the Shadows of Motown (the first HD-DVD disc) a few weeks ago, and yesterday I bought T2 Extreme.

I had problems with my slower PCs (even those with XP Pro) but on my 2GHz Sony Vaio (256MB Ram) running Windows 2000, THe Motown DVD plays fine in both 1600 X 900p and...

            DVD-Audio discs "locking-up" my RDV-1060

O.K. after all my praise about the RDV-1060 I have run into a 'glitch' with some DVD-A discs.

I mail ordered all of the Beethoven Symphonies (BPO/Abbado) on DVD-A. These recordings were rated 9/10 in Absolute Sound Magazine, so I was really looking forward to them.

One of my dvd players, will no longer load Moonraker.
            by John Holmes
My Toshiba 1200 plays all other disc. It used to play this one as well, until recently.

The disc is the OOP version. It plays fine in my DVL-700. I do not understand why my Tosh(which plays all my others just fine)now won't even load this disc.

            Any thought's on this?...

RT-1084 Not playing some HD stations
            by PSUfan
Good morning! First let me say that it's been about 7 months since last turning on my RT-1084. It plays fine and does not seem to have any problems, but is not receiving some local HD radio stations for some reason. My thoughts are that it may need a software update, but I cannot locate one. Futhermore,...

            Superman DVD and the AV32R
            by Daniel Brecher
Hey all, I posted this on the TAG Mclaren forum on their website, but felt I should post it here too as I am unsure if this is a problem with the disc, or possibly the V3.2 software upgrade on the AV32R.

I got Superman DVD today, all plays fine except for the trailers and TV spot on the...
