Off topic - but do isolaters work?

I live in an apt building in NYC. My downstairs neighbor is complaining about sound coming trough the floors.
I suspect its largely the bass as I only get banging on the walls when music with heavy bass is playing.
My audio dealer in NYC suggest isolater which I understand to be feet that sit under the speaker and isolate the speaker from the floor. 3 isolaters for each speaker @ $60 are required for a total of $360. which would be a tremoundous waste if they didnt work.
Does anyone know if these work in any substatntial way?

Ask your dealer if you can take them home and try them out and get a guarantee you can return them if they don't.

Mitchell, isolators can work in various situations, but they aren't a slam-dunk by any means. For example, if you have a downward firing woofer in your mains, isolators probably won't make much of a difference. Like Kevin suggests, get a "test" set on loan and try them out, or if your dealer has a good return policy, buy them and then return them if they don't work.

      Good luck! Keep us posted.

Having trouble with my 602.5 S3 mids.. any experience/know a good repair in nyc?
        by mahjede
So the mids to my pair of B&W 602.5 S3 Speakers both went out at the same time. It's a strange enough occurrence, let alone the fact that the night prior to noticing the problem I had been listening to my record player at standard volumes and they sounded the same as normal.

        I...

Exploring Common DIY Terminology (work in progress)
        by technodanvan
        Preface

I started this article with the intention of offering a guide to DIYers, mostly those new to the field, that defines and explains the terminology you often see in discussions on the topic of DIY loudspeakers. Now, I have plenty of learning to do myself, and am under no illusion that what I do know is complete and correct. Because of this, I want these articles to be living documents. By that I mean, I'd like the DIY community to offer input on each definition to expand and clarify...

Figured I would post this here, since it's in the realm of the "analog minded".

40 years ago, Lee Morgan was murdered while he was about to perform onstage at Slugs, a jazz club in the East Village section of NYC. Sunday, February 19th was the 40th anniversary of that senseless...

E-mail when someone replies to topic?
        by Sonnie Parker
I noticed Trevor_J posted a thread in Club Rotel about not getting e-mail's when someone replies to a topic that interests him.

As I have understood it, by checking the box on the reply page:

this will only send an e-mail if it is that person that started the thread....
