Yesterday I got in a new batch of SACDs, quite happy with this bunch- including one sleeper:
Three titles from Chesky:
"Ephemera", Carla Lother
"The Raven" Rebecca Pidgeon
Both of the above previously available from Chesky in other formats, including 24/96 DVD, but SACD seems to do them the most justice, excellent recordings with minimal "production", very natural sound
"New York Reunion" McCoy Tyner
Another Chesky title, with Henderson, Carter, and Foster backing him up, excellent disk;
"McCoy Tyner with Stanley Clarke and Al Foster" on Telarc, native DSD recording, Tyner in very good form, excellent sonics, need I say more?
And now, for something completely different (you know, no one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition).....
Titanic Soundtrack. On SACD. First cut set the hairs on my neck on end. Second cut nearly knocked me over (OK, I had the volume up too high on my X1 clones....). Great demo disk for your non-audiophile buds and their girl friends. Definitely doesn't sound like your Dad's Titanic CD.
