The music world has lost two songwriting greats, both of whom passed on late yesterday, at age 70 and 78 respectively. Ashford, whom together with wife Valerie Simpson penned such Motown hits as Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Ain't Nothing like The Real Thing, and California Soul. Leiber, together with songwriting partner Mike Stoller penned hits such as Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, Yakety Yak, and Stand By Me.
