        No offence taken what-so-ever.
But the Guess Who are held in very high esteem 'round these parts

I think I will head to Soulville....how about.....
"if loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right" by Luther Ingram,
"magic man" by Robert Winters and Fall,
              "show and tell" Al Wilson.....
Lou Bega did "mambo#5", "little bit of Monica by my side, little bit of Sandra in the sun, little bit of Mary all night long...and so on and so on...
Also from long ago, anyone remember "Captian Beefheart"? I don't know if he ever really had a commercial "hit",but he did a song on the soundtrack for an old
Richard Pryor/Harvey Keitel movie...Blue Collar was the movie and the song was called "hard workin' man"...a hit in my house.

Yes he did have a few hits Down Under, I am sure he now resides in England.

Used to have his own TV show where he did comic skits, painted paintings with a 4" brush, and of course sang songs. I also remember a few years ago he did a cover version of Led Zeppelins "Stairway to Heaven", and this caused a stir amongst the avid LZ fans. He also had a song years ago "Jack the Peg" where he had special pants and 3X legs, we all used to try and figure which leg was the fake. :Z

And his name is....... Dam I can't remember :B

I was just thinking about the 'Tie Me Kangaroo...' song, didn't Pat Boone (certainly no one-hit wonder) do a rendition of this?

That's right, jimmyp58 -- Rolf Harris did the version of "Tie Me kangaroo Down, Sport" that made it big in the US!

Since Pat Boone has attempted to sing something in just about every genre during his career (although without artistic success, IMO, even if he's been an occasional commercial success) it is possible that he covered "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", But, if he has, I am thankful that I have never had to listen to it. :>)

Hey David, try a google search for the crow tune, just type 'evil woman by crow' and you'll find a bunch of links and you are correct, Spooky Tooth also had a tune by the same name!

If Boone had just done "Love Letters In The Sand" and then quit, he'd have been a respectable "one hit wonder", and not the perennial laughing stock of the rock world.

For a brief moment in the late 1950s, Pat Boone was featured in magazine spreads as the only serious rival to Elvis Presely.in popularity -- one the lovable "bad boy", the other a squeaky-clean "bobby soxer". (I'm guessing I don't need to spell out which was which.) :>) One went on to be a legend, the other just went on to be a joke...

In fact, "J-O-K-E" is how he described his " heavy metal" album ("In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy") a few years ago when he appeared sporting tatoos on the Tonight Show. About 30 seconds of "Smoke on the Water" and you'll see why. Actually, his cover of "Love Hurts" on that album is surprisingly good -- but not enough to get me to buy the album. :>)

Of course I like "Moon River". But if we have to hear vocals instead of just an instrumental version of Mancini's marvelous tune, I like Andy William's rendition.

Those are totally brutal Dave but how about adding Jose' Feliciano singing 'Light My Fire'. Damn, Mr. Mojo Rising himself, Jimbo Morrison, must've been turning in his grave when he heard that one!

Though this is taken off to a different plane for a bit, but hey, no worries!

How 'bout 'Ol Blue Eyes himself doing MacArthur Park --- yeah, Donna Summer's song! Whew....talk about brutal!!! Right on the Trilogy disc itself. I love that disc, and I love Frankie, but The Chairman of the Board muttering that song has me spinning in my grave and I ain't even dead yet.

                                                      Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooops, my apologies on They're Coming... ops: I s'pose I missed a few posts.

Dave, that's a NASTY list. Do you own that CD? :B I mean, William Shatner singing anything would be enough all by itself. Leonard Nimoy? Phyllis Diller????

                                                        Run away, run away....

Jimmy, I am a hardcore Sinatra fan, but I tell you, MacArthur Park is one song he was ill advised to record. But the rest of Trilogy ( especially The Past ) is wonderful.
