anyone shopping for a new sub?

here is a sub that might peak some interest. this is velodyne's new flagship, the signature 1812. it gets its name (as you can see from the pictures), from an 18" and a 12" cone. its a bi-amped active xover setup, 1250 watts each cone, 3000 peak each, so 2500 watts program, 6000 peak. weighs in at about 350 pounds. havent really tweaked it yet, but its got output for sure.

oh, and for some scale, the speaker next to it is the B&W 703. the sub is about an inch taller. I am in the other picture, and I am about 5'9".

      Cowrang,

Nice match - do you think one for the left channel and one for the right channel would be enough?

Plus of course the 3rd for the .1 LFE channel

        Wow, that's impressive.

I guess if I ask how much it cost I can't afford it.

Nice sub. You've gotta love that $15,000 price tag, too. :E

hehe. its a fun sub. once it gets setup properly, its a VERY nice sub.

im bringing in a bunch of cd today to put it through its paces. its a pretty amazing thing though. every time i see it in person, im a little bit freaked out though, its just SO big.

                    Holy man that is HUGE!

                    Nice!

$15,000 Wow, that seems a bit excessive for a sub :E

a few hundred for a remote control (pronto), $3k for a processor (what, a receiver WITHOUT any amps???), etc... seems a lot to someone...

the sub is technologically VERY sophisticated. not too much like it out there. is it expensive? yes. is it a statement piece that can wow just about anyone? yes. does the sheer size of it ever get old, even after walking that room over and over in the course of a day? no.

Dear God! Well if it doesn't satisfy your low frequency needs, I'm sure you could always rent it out to your local hospital for busting up kidney stones :T
